But it's totally fine, got a great first flush and need the space anyway for new grows (Goliath PE & Ps.Cub. "Thai") so it suits me just great actually xD
Was just curious and no, didn't ask this before anywhere it just came to my mind now ^^ All good my friend
Ah yeah definitely gotta rehydrate.
Even on clones my second flush doesnβt come in all at once, either. So you may still see more fruits. Ultimately it needs water, though.

Idk the only write up I could find anywhere remotely recently is here
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22091522/fpart/all
Alot of outdated info but 1:1 peat/verm just felt right. Peat alone would probably be fine, if pasteurized correctly. Yes?

Think so you can also add straw. I saw someone having great success with that aswell. I personally, if I was in your shoes, would properly pasteurize the peat before spawning to bulk.

Well see Iβve never used it so I canβt say for sure. I just remember something about peat moss needing hydrated lime to balance ph.
Literally donβt take my word for it. Iβm a coir boy. Pretty much all I have ever used is coir+verm. No ph adjustment needed.
Thereβs definitely something else at play with peat and I donβt know what it is.

Grogu said: For my shoeboxe's with 1:2 ratio if I step down from usual formula of CocoCoir 650gm by 25% less would be 487.5gms with 3 qts water?
I having a bunch left over for 4 shoeboxe's so trying to not have left over or do less...
For 4 shoeboxes at that ratio, you should need about 668g coir and 3332g water.
I do 1:3 with a 1 part casing, and 4 of my shoeboxes use 1336g coir and 6664g water.
Let me reiterate please:
I do the normal 650gm coir to 4qt water usually. I always have way extra for 4 sb's at 1:2. I was trying to lesson my total hydrated coir by 25% and not have any left...
Hence 487.5gms with 3 qts water...
I'm coir fine tuning...
And I didn't want any leftover and I know it lasts for a while...
Suggestion: go 1:3 and just mix in whatever you have left. Once I got everything going smoothly (ish) I found 1:3 to be a sweet spot for shoeboxes. 1:2 isnβt bad, but a fat ass canopy needs that extra moisture I think.
Just a thought
I hear you, however with 1 flush I got over a 1000gms wet for 3 SB's...
The sub was super shrunk and I just chucked it...
If I did 1:3 it would definately use up the rest of the coir from the 650gm coir with 1 gl...
I will try it someday and thanks hobbit...

What youβre doing is clearly growing mushrooms and growing them well. No judgement intended.
A 1:3 would secure you a second flush as well. But really itβs all about what you want to do. Your grow, your rules!

The other option would be to save it. It should last a while just in a closed container. If you fridge it on top of that you shouldn't really have any issues pop up. Id rather save extra and toss if it goes bad, than cut bricks to get it perfect.

I"m so new and learning, I just got lucky with the Hillbilly King having massive fruits...
I harvested way early too, cause I wanted to get hillbilly outlaws ghosts going ...lol
The Wampa however, had a billion pins but only like 3 big fruits per sb...
I only got one dried ounce for 3 sb's for Wampa but a qp dried for hillbilly king...
At first the hillbilly king looked horrible with no pins, then pow the 125gm wet monster showed up so I think it's a pretty good strain, just curious if it's double strong than most...

You know it only costs me $20 to do 8 SB's including coir and grain spawn...
And I don't get super cheap grain prices but it seems very inexpensive for 8 SB's...
Also I'm really fascinated about the 15 minute venting. I actually still hear some PC farts or air clearing at 10 min vent and I know some people swear that longer venting helps with no bacterial in the grains...

Your perspective is interesting and itβs funny how we all see things differently. To me, growing mushrooms is ridiculously expensive. Whether youβre adding up the expensive stuff to increase efficiency or the cost of your time using free stuff, it all adds up.
Regarding venting, it just depends on your burner. My gas range does fine with 10 min, but a lower BTU output weak electric stove could need 15 min or more.

Excess Taters said: I honestly can't understand what you wrote Grogu, but I am adequately high and beers have been encountered. Know that in my state I did make the attempt, yet it was without reward.
I have a question as well though. When I checked my PC after my last batch of jars, I found only... I dunno, 2-4oz of liquid in the bottom. I also noticed that the PC dropped to like 13psi for ~20 minutes. I decided to give it 2:30 at 15psi to make up for that. Including 20-30 min below 15psi. So, given all of that, are my jars likely sterile? I just gave them all some agar, first time going agar to grain (I made LC, lol, bacterial AF! Sad times) and I just wanted to know whether that pressure cooker hiccup created a vector for potential contam. I'm thinking no, but I need confirmation or denial.
Should be fine, even 2.5 hrs at 13 wpuld be adequate for jars if it was vented properly. I think the minimum recommended is 1 hr at 15 even tho most run 90 min
I do 1 hr at 20 for jars in my AA and never have an issue.
for future reference if your cooker drops pressure and you canβt get it back up its because there isnt enough water, and running it dry is how you bow/warp the bottom of your cooker, especially when using prestoβs

sorry for a boring question that has been repeated https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/20765079/fpart/2/vc/1 https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24189397/fpart/2/vc/1 here and here..
grain water and soak water - I use grain wasser for lc and agar but some people seem to have used soak water but maybe they meant grain water. could use both as long as its pc'd right?.. the endospores are vunerable in water..
my qq was about phytates in the soak water.. can fungi eat phytates? or do they also breakdown in the pc?

I wouldnt use soak water, there are bacterial, fungal and yeast exudates + enzymes that canβt all be denatured even at high heats, long soaks do more than iust germinate endospores.
Boil water is best. But tbh malt extract makes plates and LC nice and clear so I never use my grain water anymore

After knocking up the grain jars how soon does the mycelium appear? Jars (oats) are being stored in the dark at 70-degrees.

Quick and dumb question,
Any way to get rid of the c*m smell of bleach? Do people who use bleach solution for SAB work (cleaning etc.) just put a mask on and work in c*m smell.
