How quickly do I need to use pasteurized 50/50+ casing material? I know the sooner the better, but couldn't find how long is too long? I'm sort of looking for a range of suitability here (i.e. within two days = good to go; two to four days = should be fine but not ideal; after that = better off making new?)

What are people’s experiences with redosing? I’d like to have a strong trip but have heard that splitting the dose up a bit can help a lot with the come-up anxiety.
I’m thinking of doing 0.75g nats, another 0.75 at 30 mins, and another 0.75 at 1 hour.
Anyways, what are your guys’ experiences?

Thanks, Yahra, also found several using search. Some older than other, and all tek writers believe theirs to be the best I'll add that one to the collection, maybe it's the one I go with Much appreciated.
Edit - just read through the tek. Very nice writeup with clear photos. Think I will try it first. Thanks, Yahra.

Never done more than a single split, and have had good success with that. Recommend doing it that way. I feel like doing 3 doses might just prolong the trip and not enhance it, but tbh I don’t know for sure

Sweet, thank you. How long did you wait between your split?

Popcorn takes forever to properly hydrate. 60 min boil minimum but I've gone 75 before to get a fully hydrated center
here's what I do:
rinse popcorn 1 or 2 times until runs clear fill stockpot with cold water place popcorn into the water put stove on highest heat setting stir every 10 minutes start checking for hydration levels around 45-60 minutes by cutting single kernels in half with a pair of scissors keep boil for as long as it takes to hydrate center strain and let dry for 30 minutes load into jars and pc
Popcorn is very forgiving with loading wet grains because the grains themselves are large and will reabsorb the standing moisture that occurs when the jars are fresh out of the PC better than other grains in my experience
Feel free to DM me with any questions

Thank you, tholos. I'm really glad to hear the word "forgiving" in relation to any type of grain Sounds like patience is key in prepping corn.

No problem. The reason it is forgiving is because its way harder to burst popcorn than other grains, so it's harder to overhydrate . I've purposely ran less hydrated popcorn grains boiled for 45 mins vs 60 mins and the only difference is that the 45 min boil takes longer to colonize. So even if you under hydrate, at worst it adds a couple more days to your colonization times

Put all of your Nats in one dose and make tea with it. Sip the tea, don’t drink it all at once. Unless your shit is lab tested there’s no way to determine what an actual dose is. Everyone's tolerance is different so there is that variable as well.
The benefits to making tea are: 1. It hits faster 2. It’s a much cleaner experience 3. If it’s not what you want strength wise you can drink more. 4. If you need to drink more it hits you faster. 5. If it is what you want strength wise you know faster and don’t take more unnecessarily 6. You’re not up all night digesting mushrooms tripping in waves while they digest
I speak from lots of experience. If they gave out doctorates in getting “comfortably numb” I would have 6, maybe 7.

I was impressed with my first try of fresh mushrooms although I did a very low amount...I then tried them dried the next day. WOW! They rocked with just 1.5g....whew

It really is a personal thing depending on your coir and your experiences. I've used bucket tek'd 50/50 style coir that was over a month old and had 0 problems with it but nichrome has posted a photo of around a month old bucket tek that's covered in mold. So it's really up to you.

Not all coir is created equally. Coir, like grain, and everything else in this world, varies from batch to batch. It is good to practice adaptability and recognize and weigh the odds of each action we take as each action cannot be undone and each action is a gamble.

This is probably a silly question, and I'm sure its been asked, but with a shoebox, after first flush can you dunk and roll in coir like I hear pf-tekers do with cakes? And why or why not? Haven't came across it or just went past it. Thank you

Thanks, I am in general a big fan of tea. Do you worry that if you have the full dose in one cup of tea, it wont be evenly distributed and thus it’s hard to dose based on volume? I’m considering whether to brew eg several different small cups of tea with known dosages.

Just dunk it. No point in the roll. Common practice and works well to have a nice second or third+ flush.
