Tea drinkers?
Do you use dry powdered shrooms or dry whole shrooms or does it matter?

I take whole ones, weigh em, then crush them in my hands above the water. Once they're all busted up I make the tea then strain them out.

For flow hoods, you donโ€™t benefit from them. For FFUs, it just needs to be high enough to get in the laminar flow. The center of the filter is ideal, so it really cant be too high.

You can certainly make great tea from dried fruits if that's what you have. But if you have fresh wet ones, no need to dry them first. Some actives are lost in the drying process.

I use paper tea filters and a funnel.

(I put the funnel in the filter, not the shrooms)

Similarly, I use a coffee pour-over carafe with metal mesh screen.

I think the biggest issue is how small mine is lmao. Might scale up to one like yours and itโ€™ll make life easier.

The neat thing about yours is, you could load up the Keurig basket with fruits and then turn it on for quick tea.

I hadn't thought about glass, that would work. I found a 30x14x8 wire shelf for $20, but they want $40 shipping, I'm way to cheap for shipping...

Dehydrating thin mushrooms

I have two shoeboxes with some thin and tall mushrooms. I didn't have the FAE dialed in and put the dub tub on too late. SMH. Do you guys still dehydrate when the shrooms are like that? I don't want to waste them, but mannn they are a pain in the ass. I was thinking about making Tea, blue honey, or putting them in capsules.

i dont mean to get into a fight about it. but i still dont understand how people who obviously love mycology - or growing shrooms (if thats what you would call it) - would rather work with disposable petri  dishes when there are durable alternatives and nopour is a 100% certain route to 0 contam?
are you really on such a scale that it doesnt work out otherwise?
just curious..

Hello! Plastic Petri gang.

A while back someone sent me a culture in a big ass glass dish. Like for free and without request, which was pretty sick.

I used that glass Petri to work with that one culture and then never again because it was such a huge pain in the ass to deal with. Idk if it was the SAB being too restrictive or what. Also wrapping it was difficult. After using it a few times it got bad contam because it was too unwieldy to properly use.

Now am I retarded? Probably. That is probably the explanation. But plastic petris are 1) way lighter and therefor easier to work with 2) incredibly easy to wrap and 3) when they come out of the fridge the exterior doesnโ€™t get so wet that cling wrap refuses to stick to it like the glass one did.

I would PREFER glass, if it performed identically. If I had a flowhood I probably wouldnโ€™t even have these complaints, also.

I find racks less versa-tile than solid surfaces..... :laugh2:

With racks you have lots of blank space between the wires. Blank space does not offer physical support and is limiting to maneuver objects around on.  Some heavy things I handle in the flow would likely break a rack anyway. A rack is 100% pivot points.
