Same. I like a sharp blade for doing clones. Especially on tiny stipe species like tamps, subtrops and pans. But otherwise I just keep using the same one until it starts to annoy me, usually because the tip is bent.

Out of 16 BRF cakes, going mss as it is my first grow, 3 haven't fruited yet, and it's already been 19 days for 2 of them, and 25 days for the third. There are no signs of contamination, so is it genetic? Is it possible that they will eventually fruit? If not, I'll just make a patch outdoor, in the shade, to have an outdoor grow too!

19 days from being birthed? Or from inoculation? What was your process? How are you fruiting them?

In making substrate using bucket method is it preferable to use distilled water? Doesn’t distilled water hinder growth of contaminants?

Potable tap water is fine and contains extra micronutrients. Distilled water is acidic and lowers the pH, which is preferable to the mushroom myc. There’s no wrong answer here. It just comes down to cost of the distilled water vs your individual results. I always use potable tap.

I followed the Pc Tek to the tee, the only mishap I can discern is that some jars were a tiny bit above field capacity. All jars were consolidated for 8 days, then dunked for 24 hours, rolled, and then I'm water tub for fruiting.

I have this shoebox of PE, with one big blob and just 1 big mushroom around... it's a week or so that I check the little mushrooms around and I'm not even sure they're actually growing. Also, what do you think of the greyish ones? Do you think that this shoebox could be partially stalled? I don't even know if that's a thing.

That looks fine. Just genetic expression.

Any suggestions or agreements?
I was using the calculation of grams of core times five to reach the grams of water needed to bring the core to field capacity AND MESSED UP adding 2.5 extra cups of water.
I’m thinking adding the amount of vermiculite and maybe some gypsum might not be the best way to take up that amount of moisture.
What about adding a brick to same bucket with 2.5 cups less water than calculated for the new brick? That way it gets … Gesh - forgot the term … pasturized? … where the verm and gypsum wouldn’t be.
Or chuck it all and start fresh? I don’t want to loose my spawn to a botched batch of substrate as it’s taken me months and months of spores to agar to finally get some mycelium growth!

You can just press it to pull the water out or add more coir.

Because there's no such thing as one universal recipe for all.. takes trial and error.. a lot of error... and common sense. Blindly sticking to rules isn't going to teach you much, and rarely lead you to success right away, cause your conditions and environment are different from the tek originator, and there are many variables at play, depending on where you live.
Teks are fantastic, don't get me wrong, and should be followed as closely as possible, until you start losing your common sense. If something doesn't seem right, no point sticking to the tek religiously. It's just a methodology.
