Depends on if they treat the wood with an antifungal.
If you add regular wood chips I bet eventually the Wine Caps would eat it though.
Culinary cult would probably be a better place to ask though. I've only grown Wine Caps once and I didn't make the bed deep enough so it didn't survive the summer heat.

Ill move this to a new thread. Thats a good point, I dont know if there is an anti-fungal treatment on the wood. Would love to try it any way as an experiment, would recycle some old stuff.

It doesn’t necessarily reduce bacteria but it does cause a bloom in the bacteria, and an opening of the exoshell of the seed casing that assists with further bacterial and enzymatic release from the germination process. If this doesn’t happen, and you pressure cook, say rye, it could cause a bacterial bloom after the fact of pressure cooking, if grains weren’t properly hydrated and/or sterilized properly.
I soak all my grains for this purpose to ensure all enzymatic release has taken place through the germination process, and the entire grain can be penetrated

I keep getting a few uncolonised grains at the bottom of my jars and the rest of the jar is super clean.. it's really throwing me off.
I've recently started putting 10 jars into my 21qt presto (7 standing 3 sideways) instead of just 7 standing on a trivet about 3 inches raised.
So I'm wondering if the bottom jars aren't sterilising properly due to being half submerged in water.
Is this bullshit? Any ideas?
My process with wheat is as follows:
Wash multiple times, fill with cold water, bring to boil, boil 30 minutes, strain, agitate periodically until dried evenly, load into jars, vent PC 15 minutes, PC for 2 hours at 15 PSI.

My guess is from condensation and bacteria being present.
Check your lids. Go back to basics. Check the filter. Has nothing to do with them being submerged partially.
And consider my previous post about germinating grain before use for at least 24 hrs in a soak.

I don't think that's really the cause. It's usually seems to be an inability to discern what is and is not important(due to a lack of a solid knowledge of basic things like the life cycle of mushrooms) combined with a vast amount of poor information on the subject.
Everything in this hobby requires double and triple checking as well as good application of critical thinking skills to get past all the weird preferences and extrenous details.

Skateboards are typically a bunch of laminated sheets of wood. Unless your skateboard is solid wood I wouldn’t mess with that. If it is solid wood that’s cool and I wouldn’t mess with it. Just call around to firewood suppliers and find one that has some maple dried and ready to go. Also check BBQ supply companies. They sell maple chips for smoking meat.

That's kind of harsh, sometimes you just have to make it work with things you have at your disposal. I've deviated in a couple of places myself, such as sterilizing grain at 12psi. It wasn't because I thought I knew better; it was because I had no other choice (in Europe).
I try to stick with the tek as much as I possibly can, to build experience, and out of respect for anyone I might ask for help later. Whenever I consider deviating, I try to understand the "why" behind it and thoroughly research how it's going to affect the process. Isn't that essential for building deep understanding of any subject?

The reason they use multiple sheets of wood is to hold the shape and prevent warping/twisting because of a single wood grain.
I'm almost positive you would never be able to get away with a solid wood board.
Same kind of deal with glue laminated beams.

I stand by my original statement. I find it surprising that y'all interpret that negatively.

Sticky traps bro, works the best. Put them inside the tub and around it outside.

I had a melmac LC that seemed to breed them, when ever i would grow these melmacs, they would get swarms of gnatskis

Rough timeline from spawn to pinset?
I STB'd 2 shoeboxes last night using 1 mycoquart (Ecuador), with roughly a 1.25-1.5 ratio of coir, including the casing layer, for each. Put up somewhere that I have to use a tall step ladder to get to so I don't keep constantly checking on them (watched pot never boils). Temps fluctuate from around 73-78. Just want a rough idea of when I should start checking for pinset. I know this is an art not a science so just wondering what people's experience is.

Great idea!
I have a datura plant in my myc / cactus cultivation area, and the sticky leaves act as fly traps. Quite suprising how many flys and gnats i see stuck to the leaves.
