TRUE! But Horus Lupercal is even worse! Haha! That is why I use the Luna Wolves symbol. I am a loyalist at heart. Loken was my favorite! Just glad someone recognized it that fast!

37รท9= $4.11 lb
4.11รท20= $0.20 per lb...
A 50lb bag of millet is about $28 ($0.56 lb) oats are even cheaper... and grain is more expensive in my area that other places
Still roughly 8x less per lb, plus you know it was prepared properly and hasn't sat on a shelf forever
20x may be an exaggeration, but $4.11lb vs $0.56 is still a pretty big gap

I guess if I have 3 tubs and say with 2 flushes I get minimum 4 zips dried and at $125 average zip price in oakland for nice shrooms that would be $500 savings minus $37 = $463 per 2 months to spawn, colonize and fruit 2 flushes, thus a pretty big savings on my medicinal shrooms so I'm ok with that until maybe I want to buy grain, grain bags with injection thing? So including substrate stuff that's about $100 total if I didn't do it all myself and buy in bulk I'm getting an ounce of medicinal shrooms for about $25 an ounce, check my math please...lol
Thank you for your real math and help...

Also hit up any local breweries. I stopped in one close to me and they said they will have fresh rye next week!

I just got a 50lb bag of millet from a local pet store for $28 like 4 weeks ago
And tractor supply in my area is roughly $25-$30 for 50lbs of oats
WBS is around $16-17 for 30lbs at Walmart

50lbs wheat = $15 around here. That makes ~22x 4lb bags after it's hydrated for about $.25/lb.

And that's pretty damn close to 20x
close enough for government work
You brought up a really good point... that 50lbs isn't hydrated.. so my numbers are a little off.. 20x is starting to sound about right

Either one works just fine. Many people have grown many many pounds of mushrooms on all types of grain. My personal preference was to use milo as my master jar and g2g that to 10 jars of rye or wheat then spawn those to bulk. Rye being inferior or bad like that site is indicating is just wrong imo. Sounds like they just couldn't prep the rye correctly. Everyone has preferences so it's fine but claiming a grain sucks is weird. People say oats suck all the time but the people who use oats love em and defend them with their lives.

Honestly the best grain is the one you can most reliably prep well and find locally.

Quick Question:
I am very interested in using MudaFuka's updated bottle tek (https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21168958), but I have never tried to fruit within the original jar before. My question is is it possible to use a regular mason jar (not wide, it's what I have on hand atm), because the tek talks about removing the whole substrate to rinse and soak for more flushes, before putting back into the same original jar. Would breaking up the substrate to get it out of a tight jar ruin the next flushes somehow?
Probably a noob question

Not necessarily but a pin on a dish is a great way to get a clone. Transfer the pin to a new dish, then do a couple of series of transfers after that from the pin clone plate. If ur technique is good you should end up with a clean culture to then test on grain.

RR's info is pretty old. Still useful, but getting out of date. I can kind of see why he said that.. because it's not the same process as cloning a full grown mushroom. But, I would say transferring a pin is still definitely cloning. You just don't have to slice into it since it is sterile on the outside from being in a sterile dish.
