No. Mushrooms are monocelular for primordia to full on mushroom.
Best way is to work on your pin set. And keep conditions consistent.
Pruning in the means that you are mentioning is basically just harvesting the quicker genetics. So “pruning” would be running a clone culture with the genetics that fruited most quickly. Effectively pruning those genetics away from the likely thousands in a MS Tub.

Looks bacterial. Waaaaaaaaay bacterial. And most like some other type of mold.
The dark spots you see look like metabolic discharge.
It happens when there is an overgrowth of bacteria in a sub and when initial spawn is not clean.
I would start with agar until you are positive you have clean mycelium.

What is interesting here is that the RULES posted and created by RR speak against nominating in a public way if I remember correctly.

It says “please”, not that it’s against the rules. I don’t think we see these types of posts often and when we do they are typically for active users who have proven themselves to be excellent cultivators who are helpful and consistently provide solid advice and constructive criticism. Two users who aren’t mods and have absolutely no authority over who receives the tag, a good ol boys club, does not make. Sounds like sour grapes.
He should know better than to say something of the nature given his contribution to the community.
Sounds like you’re splitting hairs for one of someone you obviously respect.
Enjoy the circle jerk.

If you have a temp gun, wait till it’s about 130°

I notice a lot of my mushrooms, even in the good tubs of mine (ones putting out ~1.5 oz dry per qt spawn), have a high number of mushrooms growing horizontally along the surface of the substrate.
Why?
Do you have a light that isn’t positioned above the grow? Maybe a window? Could be FAE related. Could be due to bacteria.
With/without pictures, there could be a few different reasons

Yea. The light comes from a window. The shrooms always grow in that direction. Just wasnt sure if it should be so severe
Try putting a light above them or rotating the tote.
that will help with them growing towards the light.

Curious to know as it seems to be my runner up for Pan Cultures and seemed to be showing the best signs of life for a good spawn run.
Any things helps as Im just wanting to get to know this species.
I have read through the posts from JOC's apprentice which were nice.
Just looking for more grows.

Does any one have phillenus linteus (Black Hoof) spores?
I have a friend who is dying of cancer and this is one of the alternatives to just dying by February.
Thanks in advance.

Looks nutrient rich.
Lower your nutrition in the agar and you will get more of the structure.
If you are worried. Put some on water agar and see what it does.

Tried several times and got trich, every time. The spawn is very deceiving also, it looks and smelled as it should, no visible contaminations, during grain colonization, it rebound after a BnS the next day. There was no excessive moisture present in the grain jars. And yet here I am asking noob questions. It is not making much sense to me.
Makes sense if you tell yourself you have a culture of mold
Well in your opinion is it mold or mycelium? This is the typical I'm not sure, but this what I am saying, response that I get from everyone. I figured people with more experience could help but oh well might as well just trash it. But thanks for your input, I guess.
It’s mold.

When making substrate with straw, how does one suggest adding it in to the substrate?
I just grabbed a cubic foot of barley and am wanting to include it.
I know it needs to be cut up and pasteurized, but what I’m curious about is do i pasteurize is separately? Or everything all together.
I plan on doing 30% manure 60% coir and the remaining 10% straw / vermiculite and gypsum.
Is the gypsum absolutely necessary? And does garden lime work?
