I have my first pins in a (shoebox) tub!  Super pumped; feels like the first time I saw pins showing on my BRF cakes.

I of course am headed out of town, so my wife is going to harvest while I'm out.  Sucks becaause I won't be able to get a clone this round, but I have at least 10 more shoeboxes coming up behind this one.

I wanted to make it easy on her and the mushrooms, so I was thinking of:

1) transferring the entire shoebox to an ez dial tub,
2) mist the inside sides and lid of the ez dial tub
3) take the shoebox lid completely off, close up the ez dial lid
4) harvest as shroom(s) are ready

Will this work ok?  I know I can leave the lid on the shoebox and let the mushrooms push the lid up, but would love to give the mushies the extra room and air to grow.

How long will you be out of town?
If just a few days, I'd just dub tub it.

5 days ..

Likely perfect for dub tub. In this situation, I would just have them give you the play-by-play updates and instruct them accordingly

Okay this is the 20th time ive heard this:

"ten quarts in a 23qt presto"

i tried like ten different configurations last time and i couldnt figure it out.  I get 9.  Are you taking the trivet out? Seems not good.  im good at tetris.  What the fuck. how are yall doing this?

I think those are regular-mouth, right?

Here's my configuration for wide-mouths, I literally took this picture as reference so I don't have to go through the trial and error of trying to close the lid each time:

The key to any of these configurations is looking at the components of the lid and figuring out which ones jut down into the chamber and need a bit of clearance to slide into place. You can get away with sticking out ever so slightly, as long as you don't infringe on those zones. Knowing that it can be done is a key part of it, too lol

I use an AA921, I get 10 widemouths with white ball plastic lids, 2 trivets with a row of widemouth rings between the trivets. Last 3 jars sideways in a triangle, as pictured above.

Do new people read anything besides the replies to their own posts?

Usually the answers are all around them in other active threads/posts.

Specifically spores to grain and tub automation.

Every day.

All day.

Why are you complaining abut this in about a Q and A thread? I don't get it, lol. Nobody is forcing you to answer questions.

The answer is: There are thousands of threads and a lot of information on every subject. So much so that some information is contradicting other information. Or some posts are so poorly worded, or just plain OLD that it's hard to trust the info. Friendly people answering questions makes it 5000x easier on us noobs.

Example: I did a week's worth of research before buying stuff to start out. Weekend one I spent like 3 hours drilling holes for a SGFC. So much talk about SGFC is the best way to start! Two days ago I found out a water box is way better for a climate like mine, especially in the winter. This is probably a dozen pages back now, but someone mentioned it when I asked a different question. I can't say enough how happy I am that he mentioned the tek to me because IMO it sounds way easier than a SGFC. So it's extremely helpful and we are grateful.

Edit: I STILL can't find the best, cheapest solution for a 6500k full spectrum light because every thread I find on light is a fight regarding if it's necessary or not. I don't care I just want a cheap ass light that's bright enough to work, because why not? Can't hurt.

Didn't mean to trigger anyone. But this is a QnA thread, as you mentioned. And I asked a question.

Whether or not searching is hard and old threads exist, there are current threads and posts within the same thread (this one for example) that would answer most questions if anyone bothered to read. And again, not referring to anyone specifically, just the general new peep mentality.

Thank you for the reply.

And a typical AC just recycles (chills) the same air, no ventilation whatsoever.

I was under the impression that chopping up fresh material before making tea increased extraction efficacy, but this paper says the opposite. Has anyone tried both methods and noticed a difference?

This would only make sense if the psilocybin was only on the outside.

But yeah, fresh is more potent.

WHats the purpose? And is it necessary?

Getting real annoyed with spores that wont germinate on plates so im being forced to learn how to make syringes to hydrate them.

Tried brf agar for spore germination?

I don't wrap at all, but use individual sandwich-sized ziplocks per plate. So many ways to skin cats.

INHO Seems like an awful waste of money on ziplocks

I'm not crazy about waste either. I do use glass petris, so I suppose it's a wash. They are pretty cheap bought in bulk. But I kinda cornered myself into using them because of my process. No-pour/pre-pour glass is quite wet/slippery and refuses to hold any sort of wrap.

Good to go to grains? One more transfer? This is my best looking plate so I might take it and make 8-10 more T5 plates; is that too many am I running the risk of sentience?

1st pic too blurry to see, second pic also not good enough for a solid analysis, but currently is indistinguishable from mold.
Need better pics

Pic is super grainy when zoomed in, could be the focus or the container. But again, to me, I'm going with mold because of the fuzziness and the non-radial growth

Finally actually got some quality photos for you now (I hope this whole interactions made me realize I probably need glasses more than I previously thought). You are correct about my APE clone, it sporulated green today-

Treasure coast T2 from a new clone I made recently  the black specs are from cooling my scalpel (I lost the T4 for now)-

Malabar coast T3-

I kept all of my previous plates I transferred from and none have sporulated (at-least a colorful sporulation that I 100% would notice) Please tell me I haven’t been suiting up and flame sterilizing my knife so I can take clean transfers of mold 😂😭

If it is mold, how do you tell the difference between mold and tomentose cube mycelium? Does it just come more easily with time/experience? Or is my vision so bad I'm missing something obvious?

Those also look like mold to me. I know how it feels. There are white molds also. Tomentose my and mold is not always an easy call, and I'm wrong occasionally. I avoid this problem in my own plates by choosing more rhizo sections.

The PDA plate looks good

If you wait long enough, someone will tell you those plates are fine. So, to make us all feel better, make 2 jars of grain, put each plate to it's own jar and see what you get. It's all a good learning experience anyway.
