How "differently" do you treat people?

There is a difference between being culturally forthcoming and being a racist.

you make it sound like its racism.

Well in my mind even treating someone kindly due to race is racism.

I treat them differently in that.... I recognise they are not the same as "my people". And me recognising that changes the way I act. I can't get beyond that. I can't turn my brain colourblind. You know?

Just a very poor vague example would be "I must not be racist so I will continue listening about the tea this guy likes even though I wouldn't listen about tea someone my culture likes"

This is one of the side effects of every single thing down to a microscopic level being racist or sexist or homophobic and on and on and on.  Just be friendly to people if you can and try to base your interactions on a level of respect.

Hmm, idk what’s right or wrong but I don’t think I change my approach to people too dramatically based on any particular observation of their appearance.  I talk different to older folk than I do someone in their 20s, but I still maintain a level of respect to them and authenticity to myself where I don’t think much of it.  The same applies to race.

When you focus on the differences and treat someone differently based on those differences, you are ignoring the fact that you are 99% the same as that person
Simply realize we are all pretty much the same and any perceived differences are very minor.  We all work and feel the same way inside and even cultural differences are very minor compared to the way we work in our minds
People of the same race and culture as you are relatively no more the same as you than someone of a different race or culture

It's all about what you focus on.  Just treat everyone with respect until they give you a reason not to, in other words, don't judge and treat differently based on perceived but unreal differences

Is this the same experience everyone else is having? Am I doing anything wrong? Not sure how to shut off the internal cogs of my brain any further than this.

Yes you are having what is called normal human nature. No one is colorblind, but when an entire culture makes everything about race and does nothing but talk about it and tell you you're racist of course any decent person can tend to overcompensate!  This just means you're probably a good person and the idea that because you're white, you're racist, is pretty fucking racist in itself.
