First time I saw that! Interesting, only had crazy overlay never true sclerotia yet on this specie.. did you finally see with him to trade for it & make your own experiments on this!

Personally still don't believe it. The stone tub and fruit tub are two totally different tubs.
Either BS or a fuck up somewhere along the line for sure.

I've grown many nat tubs and kept jars for extended periods prior to spawning but never saw anything remotely resembling a stone.

Lol yep I still have a couple jars of nats sitting here right now labelled 13th October '21.
Experimental to see how long I could keep a jar around and use it for G2G.
Grown way more Natalensis in the past 2 years than I ever have cubes.
It's bullshit.

I have noticed Nats can form these patches of super-dense myc, I can see how someone would confuse that with stones, but they aren't stones. Smalltalk, I think you're having a similar thing. I wouldn't even necessarily say it's due to contamination.

It's from the semi/fimetaria project, this culture is named semi 104 and reliably produces these kind of formations. I don't know what it is, but I know the myc bruises blue.
But what the fuck to do with it?
When new species make stones in the jar, how to weaponize it? Do I need to clone the stone tissue directly?
How do you even set up a tub like this

I don't even care about stones with the classic stone producers. I couldn't care less if a species produces stones. I throw them out anyway. All about the fruits, baby.

Lol man's just putting them in the trash.
One of my best trips to date was on 60g of truffles.
I'm looking forward to running stones, though I get awful nausea with them for some reason.

Not necessarily trash, I bury some outside. But it's not like they ever even attempted to push out any fruits.

Yes, they are different tubs. Which is why I'm still skeptical and was asking if he's sure it isn't mislabeled tampanensis, especially since I've traded tampanensis with him.
But at the same time, I have no reason to just flat out not believe what he's saying other than the knowledge that nats don't produce stones. I do agree with you that it is still likely something was mixed up at some point.

This is someone that has grown scletoria from a classic stone producer before though.

Some Natalensis on brown rice, almost ready to move up to 3lb of brown rice and pearled barley. I hope to let it age for some months and have a giant bag of extra potent, edible mycelium.

The only doubt I have is from personal experience and the collective knowledge we have here. We’re on page 262 of trying to figure this species out and I’ve been here since page 40 trying to figure it out. I’ve ran them all sorts of ways and haven’t found a single stone. The last year I’ve been lazy af with cult and still haven’t found a stone even in 3 month old jars. I’m not discrediting it, but I’m in the column of “mislabeled jars”

Ya man the jars i got sitting have some gnarly looking sclerotia-esque formations that dwarf my atl7 by a bit.... too bad they are on brf cakes, next time ill go with straight brown rice if they are stones for sure. Not gonna lie ill prolly pull some off when i birth the things in a few weeks dry em up do a hail mary and give it a go lol
these are atl7 on brown rice.
these are P. Natalensis on brf cakes. Noccd 5.19 from liquid culture, unless the original spores were mislabeled from vendor theres no chance of mixup.

Well I wasn’t sure how this clone would do since it’s been pretty slow on plates and grain, plus the extreme amount of transfers I did before taking it.
But here it is on day five, I think.

I've kept all sorts of aged Nat jars as well, because I work at cult hardly ever, and nothing resembling a stone ever (any more than any old cube jar will differentiate a bit).
Having grown Atl IIRC once and kept it around as a novelty until it got too gross to really consider consuming, I'd say no too.

Can you pick it out of the crowd?
