Grain Jars -- how close are these?

So I've got 3 grain jars inoculated. How long do these have (or ballpark) before I take them out and shred em' for shoeboxes or whatever I end up doing?
Here are some pics.
Jar #1: I had to shake this one because one side wasn't spreading much (guessing because my first shake wasn't as good as it should've been)

Jar #2: Jars 2 and 3 seem to be very close.

Jar #3:

Appreciate any feedback anyone has! My first attempt with grain. How much longer should I wait before, (at least) jars 2 and 3 are ready to take out and use?

The general thing is wait for 100% colonization, as that means any contaminates have a very tough time taking hold. So, try to wait until every single millimeter of those jars are colonized.
If jars 2 and 3 have been stuck like that for a while, they may just be moving slow or stalled due to some hidden contamination, which is not the end of the world as you can still fruit but it is something to learn from. If they have been chugging along fine, then just wait for those last little bits to colonize and spawn.
Jar 1 is obviously a bit behind, which happens, you just want to let it again fully colonize before making any decisions. Doesn't look like anything ostensibly wrong with it to my untrained eye, but take that with a grain of salt. It's just a matter of waiting it out and hoping for the best! So good luck, the jars are looking good and you are on your way to getting some mushrooms!

Okay yeah thanks. 2 and 3 went SUPER fast actually. So did the other one, but my first shake wasnt spread even enough I guess.
So there is no consolidation period (wait 1 week after 100%) for grain jars? Or is it still wait another week after to make sure?

jars 2 and 3 are absolutely ready! number one needs a few more days. smell them. if you are not 100% convinced they just smell like wonderful mushrooms make shoeboxes and see what you get.
enjoy, nothing wrong here, nothing stalled .

Awesome. Pretty much what I thought.
So 2 and 3 are good to do shoeboxes now?

Take the foil off homie.
You are blocking gas exchange and thus delaying growth
Foil comes off when you inoculate and it stays off.

Thanks homie. Done. I did not know that. I've heard make a "dome shape" out of foil on top.
2 & 3 are good to move to shoebox?

Yup they look fine to send.
Maybe slightly bacterial, but they should be ok.
You see the uncolonized grains pressed up against the glass in jar 3? That's an indication of bacteria - they're uncolonized because bacteria has a hold of them.
Jar 2 looks a little sweaty and thick too.

Better question is... how much spawn for 30oz jar?

30oz = 0.75qts.
Most people use Qt jars and have them filled maybe 3/4 of the way - this is considered a mycoquart.
Your jars are pretty full, so each of your jars are pretty much equivalent to a mycoquart.
So when you hear things like 2qts of spawn, you can roughly equate that to 2 of your jars right there.

The smallest I run is 2 jars of spawn to 4qts of Coco coir in 15 litre shoeboxes.
You could go smaller, but I'd still recommend the 1:2 ratio. So if you can find a 7-8L container then 1 jar of spawn to 2qts Coco should be fine.
Though you could also use ziplock bags like so

Definitely possible.. I usually use 6qt shoeboxes with 1 myco qt spawn and anywhere from 1.5-2.5 qt coir or a coir/verm mix, then I do another .5 qt top layer of the coir or CV mixture

No need for fancy stuff, i just wack the jar a few times with my hand (i hear people use a tennis ball) and shake a bit It should separate into individual grains in seconds
