Does this look like healthy growth? Agar disc.

Hello everyone!
This is my very first attempt at growing from spores on agar. I did a streak with an inoculation loop, and this is what has grown so far. It is small, and the center has a sort of yellow/orange color. Is this healthy and normal? It certainly looks like mycelium, but the color worries me.
There aren’t a lot of pictures at this stage on this site, so I figured I would ask. Thank you for taking a peek.

How long ago did you inoculate the plate? That is not healthy mycelium regardless, but I'm just curious how long ago the spores were put to the plate to further assess.

I’d say a week? It’s the only thing growing, and I followed the best sterile procedure I can produce at home.
That stinks
I’ll keep it away from my other plates and just let it do whatever it’s going to do.

Welcome To Shroomery!
For cubes, mycelium is always white. Any other color is a contaminant.

Did you use a syringe or swab? With swabs I have alot of issues getting spores to germinate with streaking for some reason. I usually cut the tip with sterile scisors, or dunk the swab into the agar. For syringes, you shouldnt really need the inoculation loop, just put some drops in a bunch of dishes and wait. For spore prints, I just use that loop and drag it, or knock the spores off the foil onto the agar if there's enough there. Make sure you're flame sterilizing your tools right before you use them, and don't spray iso all over right before you inoculate. Make sure it's well evaporated and gone before you go in the SAB. I barely even spray my SAB anymore, and usually only after I've inoculated and go to put it away.

The reason we use inoculation loops with spore syringes is to get a lighter concentration of spore solution and to have it streaked in a uniform way so that it doesn't create piles of chaotic growth on the agar and so that it will require much less transfers to get to a clean and organized growth pattern. Loops are essential to spore syringes/spore solution so we don't waste a bunch of extra plates and time trying to get to the end goal of clean, and organized growth.

I used a syringe. Just squirted a drop onto the plate and streaked it with a loop. I’m trying other methods to preserve my GT genes so I don’t have to buy again. I did my first grow with the barest of bones of knowledge, so I could have had great genetics preserved many times over by now.
Thank you for your help. The further I get into this, the more I think spore syringes aren’t that awesome to work with haha.

You could reduce further by dropping on the loop and streak. It's preferrable to have a loop with a tiny eye.
