Azure second flush looks like it'll be as good as the first.
Two species on one tray. I think now the big cake is azure the small one is cyan. The pins on the smaller cake are starting to become more defined at this size whereas the azures will get taller before getting as defined ime. Then again, I totally mixed this shit up and I am still not 100% sure until the caps are about to open lol, what a problem to have

Also, that pic is a good demonstration of a phenomenon I have noticed with the wood lovers. You see on the right cake, how there are a lot of white areas with mycelium, those areas will probably not fruit. This phenomenon as I call it is the single most difficult thing that held me back for so long. Once I started deterring this kind of growth I have been getting more consistent results.
I'll do a grow log soon, start to finish and I'll also use a plain mini fridge, so that people who want to try can make do with cheaper equipment and less hassle.
-------------------- Woodlover lover! I am open to questions about wood lovers, I don't know everything, but if you like my posts and have a question, feel free to ask in a PM I do a lot of indoor experiments. I, one day, WILL figure out a surefire method for indoor woodlovers. Nothing is impossible. Indoor Woodlover experimentation Journal Indoor woodlover information - condensed Indoor azurescens

Can I get someone's opinion on these. What do you think? This is my first time with PF Tek.
Cake #1
Cake #2
Cake #3
Cake #4
Cake #5

Cake #6

Also, can someone please recommend a Shroomery-approved shoebox or monotub tek? I can't seem to find one.
I'll be using this agar tek next: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21922023
And this print tek: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24461957
Thanks.

Well your first pf tek grow is turning out to be just fantastic. I don't see anything "wrong" at all and I do see some really nice fat little mushrooms that are about to explode.
Good job. Make spore prints.

but I'd probably trim back some of that foil... I try and keep it just slightly bigger than the cake, that way the perlite can do its job more efficiently.

Munchauzen has one: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26984354
I recommend for sure making a liner out of a trash bag, helps prevent side and bottom pins. Though it's kind of fun the first time to NOT use one, so you can see the colonization happen, that has to happen all over before you get shrooms. They eat most of the food, THEN make fruits.
I also recommend using a casing, or at least pseudo-casing (using same as your substrate for casing). Keeps top moist, helps growth, also helps prevent side pins.
I use coir and medium or coarse vermiculite with spawn in shoebox, then use a quarter inch of fine verm on top.
Oh, don't compress your shoeboxes. Keep them loose if you're growing cubes.
When you're mixing your spawn with sub, you can add a little more verm here and there to get the moisture right. You want "field capacity" (like a field after rain). Wear a glove, squeeze a handful of it. Should have some drops of water. Not none, not a lot.

Thanks for sharing the shoebox tek. I can't wait to try it out. In the tek, it says I need "clean spawn jars" and "prepped substrate". How do I make these? Sorry, newb here. Thanks.

"clean spawn jars" is exactly that. There's stuff in my sigline link about that. You need a pressure cooker that your jars fit in and I use synthetic filter discs over 3/8 inch holes on wide mouth quart mason jars. Get a PC (pressure cooker) with a pressure gauge. Can be done without it, but difficult.
I use presto 17 quart pressure canner. Can do 7 one-quart jars at once.
Prepped sub is verm and coir, search teks on that using my tips on advanced search: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27548683#27548683
I eye the mix, depends on how much water I throw in and how much verm I add, some mix to a set ratio.
Some people don't use verm, just coir, but I recommend doing both at first.
There are 3 steps to this, and you can do / learn / buy supplies for one at a time if you want.
--Agar --Spawn (jars) --Grow (shoebox or monotub. You're smart to start with shoebox.)

Once you make the dive into agar and grain, you’ll never look back.
You should also check out this shoebox tek if you are curious about going from PF cakes to bulk though. Works like a charm.

Awesome. I think this is what I was looking for. Seems simple enough. You use two 1-pint jars in that tek. I have a dozen 1/2 pint jars so I guess I could use four of them to meet your ratio.

Yeah, 4 fully colonized 1/2 jars of spawn will make a nice shoebox.

Nice job with the cakes!
For clean spawn, you could use PFTek cakes which you already know about and "bucket tek" straight COIR or COIR and vermiculite for your prepped sub. Mix the spawn and sub, place in tub, wait 14 days, off to fruiting! (or case and fruit).
You could probably mix 1 cake into: 80g COIR 1C Vermiculite 2C water
Might fit a shoebox?
Good luck!

It’s kind of hard to see as I took this picture through the top of my SAB, but I was collecting some prints from what I was told were Oak Ridge, and one of the prints was markedly more rust coloured compared to the others:
Again, kinda hard to see, but I thought it was neat.

PFTek cakes might be a good way to get started with SBs (shoeboxes). But I recommend he move away from rice soon. It's not a great grain for SBs.
I use wild bird seed. A lot of people here use oats. Some use rye, millet, wheat, and others. A few use corn, but it's slimy and is so big it doesn't have as many inoculation points as a smaller grain like the others.
