Using spore syringe for the first time

Hey guys, I recently got 2 spore syringes of golden teacher from premiumspores.com and injected 4 spawn bags and some jars. It's only been like 5 or 6 days and I don't see anything so far. But I recently read somthing saying that spore syringes are contaminated a lot of times, is this true? And if so does that mean there won't be any growth? Thanks for any help and info

Spores are typically produced in non-sterile environment, therefore highly likely to have contaminants. Best approach is to use with agar when you start with multi-spore syringe
Read up on some basics, here is a good place to start

You can wait and see what happens with these bags and jars of yours, I’ve had some successes with spores to grain and also had many failures. There is a ton of informative teks here and always something to learn. Welcome to the board.

Spores themselves are not sterile so what you’ve heard is correct. MSS to grain is a slow process as well. It’s possible to have a successful first grow but don’t be surprised if something else grows as well ie trich. There’s lots of agar teks to follow on shroomery that will greatly increase your rate of success. Agar is so easy and fun there’s almost not excuse not to. Good luck and be patient. If your grain/grow contams, don’t worry. Just try a more trusted and tested method.
My only MSS > Grain grow was my first and it was successful. Knowing what I know now I wouldn’t repeat it.

What is the temperature they are growing in? Also, did you cool down overnight after sterilizing bags and jars before you inoculated?
I've seen people say on here it can take up to two weeks before you see germination. In my incubation chamber which stays at 79 F it takes 3-4 days before I see growth.

I'm in the middle of my first fruits growing from a MSS to grain operation and I have not lost any of my original 14 jars to contamination yet. 7 have gone to shoeboxes and are pinning now with no contamination (inoculated 05/01), and another 7 are finalizing colonization (inoculated 05/02) so much slower but there has been no obvious contamination. Of course they can still fail, but I accepted that going in. I think if you try your best to follow best practices, then its intuitive you will have the greatest chance for success using a syringe but having more projects going can make up for any lost supplies and time.
Temperature wise I have had everything in about 75-77 F for all of colonization and spawning, and I have usually seen the first signs of mycelium within a week. I would say if you are inoculating your jars and bags at a temperature that feels comfortable to you then you are probably fine, since that most likely sits around room temp. I inoculated my jars probably 8 hours after they were pressure cooked and they were completely cool, so you don't necessarily have to wait overnight though it is a guaranteed way for them to be adequately cooled.
Good luck with this endeavor!
