When is it ok to put a grow kit in the fridge?
    #27810572 - 06/08/22 07:39 AM (2 years, 7 months ago)

I have a couple of grow kits that are slowly colonising. I'm going to be going  away for a couple of weeks and dont want to loose my crops.

Could I put the breathable lid on them and then put them in the fridge while I am away?

Should I do this now so that they dont colonise any further or should I wait for them to colonise and then put them in the fridge.

There are small specs of Myc on the Verm top layer.

2 weeks is a long time... things tend to dry out in the fridge. Just let them grow and when you come back you might have shrooms? Just my 2 cents.

Don't start perishable crops if you don't have the time.

Failing that, let them ride and harvest when you return.

It's a pre-made kit that you ...... grow.

Don't bother with the fridge. Mycelium can sit a while after full colonization at room temp and be totally fine if it's clean. If you are going away for two weeks and your spawn is not fully colonized then it is likely perfect timing to fruit when you get home.

The only time I keep mycelium in the fridge is for long term banking in a sealed container.  When I do that I use LC in little vials.

Putting it in the fridge will likely ruin it.

No stress. Leave them on the shelf. Go on your trip. Fruit when you get home.

Nothing wrong with grow kits. They open the door for a lot of people.
