Dang I hate running a/c AND heat, or dehumidifiers AND a humidifier lol:oldman:
I luck out with northern hemisphere temps and only run dehumidifiers in greenhouse late in sept October.
Indoors I have a nice inline duct fan hooked to inkbird humidistat in flower room to suck out excessive humidity! I only sometimes must use a humidifier in tiny veg area to take aero clones
Btw I clone with just water!:rasta:
No gels, no powders , no hormones, no clear Rez products
It’s hard to find ppl not using cloning gels and root powders

I find cuttings just need water 💦 spray and good temps and humidity ( must start healthy )
Helps I have standby generator, I used to loose SOOOOO many cuttings and a good portion I found was due to random outages, leaving them extra cold and dry!

I love my ezcloner.
I love my generator too lol

This is 8 days since germination. Everything going good I think. It's easy to obsess over little details since it's my first grow. I was worried because the first baby leaves were curling down, I think maybe too close to the light. But it doesn't seem too bad.

Your medium is a bit too wet, be careful you don't cause the seedling to rot.

Plain tap water cloning definitely works, but the gels and powders and worth it. Probably among the most valuable supplements you could buy IMO. A seedling that has twice as strong root system after 7-14 days is just going to grow much quicker and end up significantly larger.

In my flower room i use an auto pilot eclipse F90 that is controlling my window AC, dehu, heater and co². Dehu is currently a lil 70 pint a day jobby. My humidifer is an ideal air 200 pint which is controlled by a Titan Controls Eos 2 humiditstat.

Veg room currently has an ideal air 200 pint with Titan Eos 2. No dehu or anything else.

I noticed a pretty big difference with clones using rooting gel too.

Huckmonkey 10 weeks today, prob let it go another 5-7 days. The buds have swelled up a lot in the last week and it’s still drinking the pot dry which is weird. Usually this late I barely have to water the coir.

Do you guys know what causes the tips to curl upwards like that?

It looks like you might of fed a little heavy…. But I think they look fine…
What ppm do you normally feed at?

Yeah it’s taken me forever to learn when to start changing the feed and how much, but I’m finally getting close. I definitely waited a little too long to cut the N though.

In flowering I maxed out at .85EC and that was only for about a week. The majority has been .6-.7EC.

Idk why I have 4-5oz plants that burn at seedling level feed but now that I’ve figured it out I guess it actually saves money on nutes

Usually I get some clawing not upward curling. I think maybe it’s P/K related based on the points on the edges starting to yellow also. Just the general look of the fans reminds me of some deficiencies I had my first grow where they started to yellow and curl up and die from the tips inward around 7 weeks in.

Ok, so, a plant I was growing from seed has turned into a hermaphordite.

it is out of my grow tent, and it was the only one of that batch to be not a clone. im early in flowering, not worried at all. I have been inspecting and today was the first day I found the ballsacks.

on my own private property far away from anyones potential grow in the vicinity, I was going to plant a few clones in a wooded area, just to see how they fared.

So, planting the hermie close to those would be asking for trouble.

But what if I wanted a new strain? Would crossing a proper female of one strain with a hermie of another create a potentially good viable offspring?

or would those genetics also be prone to be a higher proportion of hermies?

I have never crossed strains, so this feels like an interesting opportunity to do so in an OG way. I don't mind if these outdoor experiments don't yield much, I guess I can always use the bud for cooking.

If the hermie was caused by genetics then yea it will pass that trait down and all seed will also hermie.

Usually hermies appear toward the end of flowering tho. Maybe you just have a normal male?

I think certain environmental triggers can force a plant to hermie, like spraying CS. I bet there's more triggers tho, maybe some pesticides can cause it. In those cases, the switch was not genetic so progeny shouldn't automatically be hermies.

In any case, I would trash it. Why risk your other plants that have come so far. Creating something new should be done with intention IMO. And you already know how to clone so you're not struggling for seedlings.

Be ruthless and without nostalgia for your plant children.

Drop the axe on the hermi to prevent future heartache.

Alright alright, noted :p

Yeah, it was from a plant that auto hermied. I guess if its just likely to continue spreading those genes, then its really not worth it.

Thanks for the input.

Man, she looks great! Really nice work!
:highfive:

Yeah, I'm with Enjoil. She's a touch over fed but not real bad. I just chopped a pink pheno at 11 weeks so I should probably open up that flower time a little to 9-12 week average lol.

I might be wrong, but if I remember right WA has them in two gallons currently with a peat base soil. If so, I suggested up potting to improve yield. These are way better pics than last time though and they were shorter then. The nodes are staggering so they are ready for flip, but being that big I'd up them to four gallons to avoid some challenges in the long haul as he/she is learning. There is some height concerns on the horizon so either way it needs to be soon. Maybe bypass the recover time if they are up potted.

good start knowing that, giving water too often is #1 mistake as want to "do something". or too much ferts or additives esp when in soil. more is less and less is more. your first few grows u are not pushing things to the max and have it so dialed in for extra 0.5% terps or extra 10 grams per metre.  another big mistake ive seen is drying, puting in jars WAAY to early. dry a bit too fast is better than too slow. alot of the old techs are from when bud was actually cured and it was brown or dull looking. today most premium bud is not really fully cured(think brown cured cigars) sure some sugars are broken down increasing smoothness a touch but most "fire bud" is harsh compared to true 6 month cured bud thats brown and has little monoterps left. the true cure back in the day for most weed was more important as needed to smoke 3-4X as much. now adays the 'cannasuiers' snub there nose at bud over a couple months old never mind a  true 2 month or longer cure, and many folks dont mind harsh "kush" nugs high in pinene that bite ur throat. my opinion is that the light terps def act as a solvent for thc (ie limonene hash) and allow for it to pass into the lungs faster for more energetic blast off type high. vs slow obsorbtion of true cured buds (think cobs of typically racey african narrow leaf var, that offer a chiller experience, and having combined cbn with thc it does not produce similar effects IMO). of course many things happening at once, and even sometimes it seems the harsher the bud the more intense the burnout is. and perhaps sometimes the less terpy the slower it is absorbed and perhaps dif cannabinoids fill up receptors andor perhaps partly because some is allowed to be processed by liver etc to form secondary metabolites as is the case for edibles and "downy" type effects. I think we will begin to learn more in the next 5 years esp as USA is likely to legalize federally and more research is done there and around the world. I feel other parts of the world like canada are behind on the whole different effect/strain thing, as in canada the "medical" bud used for majority of research is garbage and just watered down large yeilding hybrids of jack and afgan1 from holland from the late 90s with terp levels in the ppm range vs 1-7% as seen in "medical" usa cannabis.

lol aaanyway, bit of an off topic rant..
