Does size of parent effect size of children.

My first flush produced smaller than expected mushrooms(Golden teacher). The second flush has produced them larger-over three inches tall and 2" cap. Am collecting spores and was wondering if the spores from the smaller parent will produce similiar sized children and same with the larger mushrooms? Am only intersted in the size characteristic.

In my experience, no

Using spores is kinda like a reset button.
A spore print will contain millions of different genetics.

First flushes usually have more fruits and
They're smaller. Second flush less fruits
and they're bigger. It's the mycelium's way of using
the nutrients and water it has available over
time to try reproduce the best it can.

To try to copy dominant traits like size or
prolific clustering you have to do cloning
to agar.

Using spores you've collected will always
take you back to the beginning.
A genetic dice roll if you will.
Maybe over time always printing the same
fruits will make that trait more dominant
but there will still be tons of other possible
traits in the print.

It's my understanding that once back to spores - they go back to being just as random as nature would have any other spores selection.

To continue the size genetic, you will need to take a sample and clone!  :goodluck:
