Broke Boi Tek, but sterilized in a pressure cooker?

I am going to try the Broke Boi Bulk Tek where you use brown rice grain and do not pressure cook your jars. You only steam them in a regular pot instead.
My question is: what if I pressure cook the jars anyway, just to be safe? Would that be overkill? Anyone done this? Any tips, tricks, time to PC the jars, etc?

Its not really the broke boi tek at that point lol.
Thats kinda the entire point
*edit* sorry, that was kinda rude and dismissive and didn't really add anything constructive.

if you wanna use rice with a pressure cooker I think it was Violet who had a decent tek for that and RGS also
but rice is tricky to get right, and other grains are available and cheap if you have a PC to sterilize them, easier to prep correctly
up to you man, let us know how it works out

Thanks, Nef. Believe it or not, brown rice is the only grain that I have access to where I live. This is why I decided to try the Broke Boi Tek, but I was worried that steaming may not be enough. On the other hand I was worried that pressure cooking the rice may overcook it, so I had to post this thread and ask for advice. I will check out the other brown rice TEK's that you mentioned, thanks a lot!

I've had decent results from pcing rice before. Add verm to it and don't soak it, shake as soon as the lock drops. Verm will help a lot with rice, keeps it from sticking and helps break it up on the shake.

It will be better than just steaming.
People hate Broke boi, but to be honest I have had great results with it when I was starting out. It a great was to make the hobby accessible, and it's a good way to get an understanding of what you're trying to do and why.
I usually had to toss a couple jars, and the syringes are gonna have to be super clean (you can't really control that).

I kind of think the hate for WBR in part is due to the fact that people often come here after having shot a MSS into a bunch of overcooked WBR and ask why it's gone wrong.
I'm sure if done right it's a viable tek. It just happens to get picked up by people who either want to cut corners or don't know better.
I'd love to know if there's something actually _wrong_ with WBR.

It's hard to shake the jars, that's the only downside. Well that and it is hard to get the moisture right, when I did it I had a couple too wet and went bacterial but most of them made it. It works, just nor as well as wheat or WBS. For MSS though it's great.

My most recent grow I've done g2g after using a mss and only one jar went bacterial out of 24, so I'd say that it's not a bad tek.

Yeah, I think the most difficult part for me would be the proper hydration of the brown rice grains. I guess pre-soaking them would be inadvisable?

Yes, I ran mine by adding water to the jars, about 1/2 what it would take to cook fluffy rice and PCed. When it was finished and the lock dropped I immediately shook the jars to distribute moisture. The verm helped immensely. Load the jars, water, rice, verm. You don't want the verm soaking the water, it's there to help with the stickiness of rice.

Well said my friend. And might I suggest, if available, popcorn seed. I started out with BR, then I went a bit backwards to brf, then to popcorn. Now I just stick with brf cakes and popcorn. Seeing how all these so called pressure cookers only reach 10psi it took me a few months to get the right setting, timing, moisture, ingredients for the popcorn, etc. . . But I did find a way to get about 80% success in half and quarter pint jars. Yeah I'll get crap for cooking grain in such small jars. But who cares! It works for me! Once you find your niche my man, stick with it and you'll be good. Learning is half the fun! Took me two years to where I could devolop a fully fruited mono tub! If you have a PC you can try one of the options for BR:
Option 1:
Quote:
cronicr said: Step 1 hydrate For brown rice I bring water to a boil and put 1.5 cups of brown rice for every qt I intend so for 10 qts I'll put 15 cups in a 5 gallon bucket. Then I boil enough water to soak them in so at least twice the amount of water. Once I dump the water in the bucket I let it sit for 24 hours and check them, if they are ready I dry them and load my jars, sometimes another 10 minute soak in boilong water is needed.
Lids 1/4 inch hole stuffed with poly ...simple
Pc 15 psi for 90 minutes
Inoculation Crack the lid in a sab and inoculate
Colonizing Shake at 30ish percent
quote taken from How do I properly sterilize brown rice?
Option 2:
Violet's TEK Grain Prep Tek • All Grains, featuring Brown Rice & Grass Seed.
When using BR there are some disadvantages: - hard to prepare - hard to shake --> requires top-fruiting - higher cost
