Pedro Puzzlment????
    #2780759 - 06/10/04 10:47 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

For a testing sample of San Pedro, Where should I cut and how much should I cut I know 10-12 inches but how deep should I cut and should I cut from the top or the base. I don't want to make my cactus look bad and I want it to heal quickly and continue growing. Also how often should one foliar feed???

I almost don't get it but i'll try to discern what you're talking about.

You want a foot long sample of pedro on average for testing. If you start at the tip and measure down 12 inches cut right through the pedro to the other side, like slicing a cucumber. I don't understand with what you mean by "how deep".

Doing so you cut off the apical meristem actively growing tip. You'll have to wait for the base to pup, which it will.

If you cut at the base then you've sort of decapitated your cactus and will then have probably more than 12 inches cut off and will have to callus and root the remaining unused parts.

I rarely do it and don't do it often. My plant techniques are more based on appearance and when i feel it needs stuff, so exact time tables i can't tell you.
