Sydney Hunt identification help
    #27806416 - 06/04/22 11:47 PM (1 year, 7 months ago)

Hey friends! had a pretty successful hunt today, can anybody help me identify what i picked. i was hunting P.subs so i hope thats at least the majority of what i picked.

all mushrooms were picked near a creek. the area experienced flooding a few months ago so there had been heaps of debris washed up from trees and such. majority were found on mounds that large trees were growing from and around the base of shrubs with wood debris. I've picked through the batch and separated the ones with woody stalks and isolated a few that weren't woody. I'm also in the process of getting a spore print and will update tomorrow.

No active mushrooms in there, sorry. Possibly Cortinarius sp.

Blue staining is a good indicator but not a guarantee, as others species will bruise blue also (e.g some boletes). A more knowledgeable member may see this post and be able to give you an exact ID. If you post a little about the habitat you found them in it will help narrow the field.

Cortinarius rotundisporus seems likely.  Definitely nothing edible.  Welcome to the Shroomery

They're a Cortinarius species. The blue you see is not bruising, but rather the colour of the mushroom. These will have a rusty brown spore print.
