Making holes in cake jars after sterilization?

I just sterilized a batch of cakes but I didn't realize til now that the holes are too small for my syringes. What should I do now? If I make new holes in the lids, should I remake the cakes or do you think they will still stay somewhat clean for innoc. This is all assuming I never open the lids. I'm just gonna stick a flaming hot screwdriver in the middle (the lid is plastic.)

You wrote this yesterday:

Edit: I am now calm and realize that was a dumb mistake. Gotta use heat next time.
What did you melt the holes with that’s smaller than a 16-18 gauge needle? You can melt a larger hole but you should be very careful with anything flaming hot.

You are correct I did write that yesterday. I did a job and bought new jars.
I used a thin screwdriver to make the holes. I guess it was too thin.

I did the same thing first time I made BRF cakes, I just took a nail and widened my holes, but I kept flame sterilizing it after every hole with my dab torch. It turned out okay for my first time. None were contaminated, anyway. Just try not to poke the nail down past that top vermiculite layer.

I wasn’t being condescending. I was commenting on your process. There aren’t a lot of screwdrivers with a diameter as small as a syringe needle unless it’s a biopsy needle. Melt a bigger hole and move on.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm a lot more confident in these cakes now. I was thinking that the hot screwdriver might contaminate it but I guess it's exposed to open air anyways above the filter.
