Just inhaled grey mold

I normally dump any jars I see that have contams without opening them, but I had a jar in a batch that had a really small patch of mold that I didn't notice until I opened it. Unknowingly did the sniff test and got a small/moderate nose full of grey dust before I tossed the cake (nose was about 6-8 inches from the dust). I am in good health with no allergies, but should I be concerned about this? It's been about 30 minutes and I feel fine.

I'm not qualified to give medical advice, but my opinion is that a brief exposure will not be harmfull. Your body is exposed to pathogens all the time, it is prolonged exposure to high concentrations that is dangerous. Again, just my opinion.

You're breathing mold spores while reading this. You'll be fine.

Thanks for the opinions you all. Still a bit paranoid but was actually able to take a photo (it affected one more jar that I thought just didn't colonize at first glance). Not sure what kind of mold this is or if it's a huge concern compared to something like black mold.
Other question is, should I toss the other cakes that were in the vicinity when I opened the jar? They were about 3 feet away soaking in a tub of water in my kitchen. I didn't visibly see the dust get near it, but I assume it can travel far. So toss them or just wait it out to see if they become compromised? Thinking maybe they'll have a chance if the cakes are protected more after being fully colonized.

That looks like trich and I recommend not opening tammed jars until you’ve PCd or otherwise neutralized the contents and you’re outside ready to dump that in the compost or trash…outside

Every time you walk into a damp basement or rake leaves outside, you are breathing in billions of mold spores. I would not be at all concerned. Every breath you take is teeming with spores. Having a highly toxic mold like Stachybotrys chartarum thriving in your living area, and causing constant exposure is the real concern.

As others have stated you’ll be fine, funny story though back when I worked at a farm we were dumping contaminated bags and a puff of this pink and orange mold got in my eyes, those bitches got all swollen an leaked some nasty stuff for a day. It’s too bad too cause that puff smelled so wonderfully like fresh citrus.

I didn't even open that jar, it went straight into the trash. The one that I did open (which had way less mold than the one in the pic) also went in the trash.
Should I toss the other healthy/colonized cakes that were chilling a few feet away in a tub of water when I opened the contam jar? The small dust cloud didn't visibly go near the healthy cakes, but not sure I'm not sure how far that shit travels.
Feeling better now at least that it sounds like I won't pass away from this haha.

Fully colonized cakes are very resistant to contamination. Just see how it goes. Mold is very common in this hobby. I cultivate in my moldy 1950s basement, and rarely have problem so long as my SAB work is on point.

prob incubate a mutant mold thats been dormant for 100’s of years until it grows into a giant stem that violently explodes out of your jugular spraying spores in about a 20’ radius…but that’s just a guess
