Contaminated? Safe to consume fruits from potentially contaminated mycelium?
    #27802556 - 06/02/22 11:13 AM (2 years, 7 months ago)

I let the tub get too dried out, and the mycelium started turning brown and then yellow. I decided to mist the tub and close it up for a while (which is why everything is growing to the side), and the mushrooms kept growing just fine.

Can fruits absorb toxins from contaminants, rendering them unsafe to eat?

Contaminants can cause problems in fruits but your fruits do not look dangerous. If they smell off after you harvest them try cooking them a little or dehydrating to kill contaminants.

:whathesaid:
Although I've never heard about it besides mushrooms absorbing heavy metals from the ground in nature.

You fruits look good, nothing out of ordinary there. Your mycelium also doesn't look to be contaminated, the brown and yellow coloring is what we commonly call matting and it happens when you let your substrate dry out or generally stress it too much.
