Help!!! 12 days in the SGFC but no pins [Golden Teachers]

This is my first time, so bear with me. I have 4 BRF cakes sitting in the fruiting chamber for about 12 days now and no pins still. I have no problem with maintaining 90% - 95%. However, I live in a vert hot and dry region especially during the summer. The outdoor temp ranges from 79f - 96f and the room temperature without AC ranges from 79F - 84F. I had success controlling the temperature using an AC but the AC sucks all the humidity from the SGFC and makes the cakes look dry. I also run a cool mist humidifier near the chamber but that doesn't seem to help my case. Could temperature be the reason for stalling?
This is my setup.

Any day. It averages 14-21 days. Maybe longer without out any kind of isolation. I've never done PF tek. But I do harvest pounds a week and that's average for me. 14 days....

SGFCs only work properly when packed full of cakes. If they are not full, you will give your cakes too much FAE and dry them out. Use a water tub instead so you can control the FAE more ideally and limit the drying.
BTW, the temp/humidity guage is useless - just watch the surface of the cakes and let it tell you if it needs more moisture.

How big is that SGFC and are there only 4 cakes? I use a 6 litre unmodified shoebox for 4 cakes.

Water tubs are great or you can use ziplocks for a handful of cakes… cheapest/easiest way to fruit a single cake is in a sandwich bag.. poke ~6 syringe needle holes and throw in some wet verm and you’re good to go. Cakes only need 2-3” of space around them to produce a flush… anything after that, you’re adding needless environment to maintain conditions in and you’ll end up drying your cakes out
Quote:
Fruiting 3 or Less Cakes in a 2.5 Gallon Ziplock
I use to use 2 gallon but that extra bag is nice for fruit space. Pretty simple.. I’ll let the pics speak for themselves.. an 8 cup container with ~3” of perlite with cakes sitting in 4oz jar lid that are DEC. I found using CV leftovers from bucketed sub works better than just verm for the cake recipe (obviously still use brf). And then needle holes poked every 2” and double that up at cake level... here’s a good shot showing how many needle holes I use..

Pf cakes in a sandwich bag.. this really as simple as it sounds.. I put a 24h dunked cake into a bag that I poke ~6 needle holes (I use 16g syringe needles) evenly through the bag. I double end case the cakes with a healthy wet (not sopping but above field capacity) layer of CV (plain verm will work too) under and on the cake and that’s it! They do pretty well..

And a heads up.. if you do use colored baggies, don’t use the red ones… the dye that they use I believe is the one that has anti fungal properties..

From here
Also check out Bottom watering for adding water to your cakes (if they do dry out) without having to disrupt the flush via dunking. Misting the cakes directly isn’t going to rehydrate them effectively and you can matte the surface… misting fruits directly is even worse. Fruits need to be able to evaporate water they pull from the cake.. it’s a cycle. If you mist the fruits, you stop/plug up the cycle and they can become water logged and/or abort.. that’s why bottom watering works so well. You’re adding water to the cake from which the fruits pull water
Like has been stated, you really want to pack a tub your size with cakes to help keep the rh high so they don’t dry out. To give you an idea of just how much you can pack tubs with cakes, here’s two tubs with 24 cakes (double stacked wide mouthed 1/2 pint “towers”) each
