What to do with this brick of mycelium?

Hi again ya’ll,
So I’ve had this brick of mycelium and substrate that came from a grow kit that just won’t fruit. I think it’s just bone dry as no matter how much I mist it won’t stay “wet” for long. I’m aware of surface conditions but I think it doesn’t matter here it almost seems as if the mycelium absorbs all water almost instantly. (Though I don’t know if that’s possible, just a guess)
I was thinking to bury this in coir that I acquired today, which lead me to some questions.
Should I bury the brick, as is, in prepared coir or should I saturate the brick first in water and then bury it whole? Or is it better to break the brick and mix it with the coir and put a small casing layer above the mix instead? I have a small shoebox that I could use for this.
And last thing, preparing the coir I don’t have an PC or an insulated bucket which I’ve read is used on some Teks. Is it OK to just use any kind of bucket and boiling water to prepare the coir even though it might not be optimal?
Here’s the brick in question
(The blobs on top are just mycelium, I’ve tested it so it’s not contaminated.)
Any tips or ideas are as always greatly appreciated

If this were me, and I've done something similar with a tub of APE I had that was so slow it dried out as I didn't keep an eye on it, is crumble the entire thing up as best you can and see how dry it seems. Add some water to try and aim for field capacity (keep squeezing handfuls of it while gradually mixing in water and get it to somewhere near). Then I'd mix it with a small amount of coir (1-2 qts maybe?) at field capacity, and put it into whatever size monotub that suits.
I'd just add enough coir to give the mixture a good texture and give it a bit more sub to grow through. The reason is I don't know how much spawn is in that sub at the moment and if it's a kit, maybe not enough that I'd be confident it would suit adding heaps more sub to it, or if the myc is strong enough to colonise for many more weeks, you just want a way to get water in there and hopefully get some fruits at this stage, right.
Others may have a different opinion, someone may come along and say it's already too late or that it looks bacterial, but this is what I'd try if I had coir on hand and nothing much else to be growing.
Good luck.
Edit: and yes a standard bucket will do you fine.

Thanks a bunch for that informative reply! I’ll go ahead and prepare a small amount of coir right away. Once it’s cool enough I’ll try your method of mixing it all. I think my shoebox should be just the right size for crumbling this up and adding a little coir to get an optimal height/mass.
Hopefully this will produce at least a few shrooms, as I’m completely new to all of this it’s still fun experimenting. I see it as good opportunities to learn
Many thanks friend!

Sure will!
I did my mix before bedtime yesterday and well I maybe should have read up a bit on how a perfect mix look lol I kind of just went at it. Put a small layer of coir on the bottom, patted it down a bit and then mixed the old sub with a little new coir then finished it off with a small layer of coir on top.
I’m surprised I got the field capacity right of the coir on the first try, never used this before. Weighted it out and added about 4.5x of the weight in water and it turned out perfect with only a few drops coming of when squeezed.
Here’s the new home

And this morning I noticed two small white knots sticking up out of the casing layer. They’re hard to spot on the photo but kind of top leftish. Not sure what this is but will keep an eye on it for sure.
Will update this thread as we progress

Just an update
Definitely got action in the tub, spots of mycelium starting to show. Will let this tub colonize for a few more days to strengthen the myc and then introduce proper FC

I think most people just go straight to FC, but someone with more experience may say something different with your particular situation.

Promising.
The coir looks dry to me on top, I'd find the thread on proper surface conditions and get misting when you think it needs it based on what is advised there.

Hmm you guys are probably right, and I didn’t see this till now but the mycelium is thriving down below.

I’ll start fruiting conditions asap. Thanks for the input guys!

Weekly update, dunno what’s causing this but mycelium blobs are “taking over” the tub. I’m wondering if it’s genetic as the brick only showed blobs before I mixed it in the tub too. Here’s a fresh shot:

Every primordia sign I see seem to eventually turn into a blob/fluffy patch on the surface. Does anyone know what could be causing this or perhaps this is completely normal? The strain is B+ which I read somewhere is known for blobs.
It’s a bit hard to keep proper surface conditions as water seems to add up quickly on the blobs and they look can look wet instead of having the tiny beads of water that you want. Maybe I’m misting too much I dunno

In my experience mycelium blobs that are thick and ice cream looking are from the mycelium being stressed do to contamination.

You might be right on that, I’ve noticed some “myc piss” on one of the blobs today. Dang it.
It’s funny because the mycelium underneath the surface looks so good, lots of knots and fine myc networks all over from what I can see through the side of the tub.
Oh well since I got nothing to lose on this I’m just gonna keep trying to fruit it and pray to its spirits tonight. If it starts looking real bad I’ll eventually bury it out in nature.

It can still produce fruits even with some bacteria in there. As long as green trich doesn't start raging through it ur good to keep waiting. No expectations, observe, learn, joy if fruits

Well I think I’ve lucked out here guys. Now I’m somewhat colorblind so I can’t really tell what the discolorations are but they don’t look to promising, right?

I’ve noticed fine fine networks of some type of white stuff starting to spread across the tub. It doesn’t really look like mycelium to me, it’s too fine and small compared to mycelium. You can kind of see it on the 3rd photo down on the left side just to the right of the discolored blob.
Not sure if this is a contamination spreading and wether I’ve accidentally introduced it to the tub a while after spawning, just makes me wonder where I went wrong if that’s the case

It's fine for right now don't throw it out.
The discoloration is probably metabolite covered stressed out mycelium. The thin fuzzy all over could be healthy mycelium growing up through.
Untill that thing starts growing green trich, Let it ride and wait.

Update.
Tub is looking real gnarly..

Buuuut, it’s pinning

I’ll have to keep a good eye on these, make sure they’re safe to consume and all.
