What do you guys do in this case? * 1

What are you guys doing when there's overgrown mushroom compared to the rest and they are all in clumps.

Can you just cut halfway the mushroom to not put spores everywhere? And will this dusturb the clump.

Just cut the mature mushrooms you want to harvest first at their base as close as you can to the sub with a sharp knife and you can harvest the rest in cluster later by either twist and pull method or again with a sharp knife.

Also, it looks like you have some very pretty albino specimens in there with pure white caps.  Cool looking mushrooms!  :mushroom2:

In my experience, I would not advise to do the twist and pull method for harvesting mushrooms in clusters as it tends to rip up the others next to it as well, even if they are still only pins or very small.

Thank you very much! I appreciate your answer.

I will do as you say and cut the mature one as close as I can from the sub.

But as you were saying advising me not to twist & pull the cluster how should I go about that?
Should I just cut the bigger ones for now and then twist & pull the rest when they also have matured?

First off, pluck those albino/leucistic ones however you so choose and try to clone via agar. Thems purdy.

Outside of that, just cut ‘em down as they mature. Slice them as close to the substrate as possible, don’t tug/twist/pull etc unless you want craters in your substrate. The leftovers will continue to grow, and what’s left of your cuttings will blue and won’t cause you any problems.

Maybe rehydrate the substrate if needed.

If you have a tight cluster or two, I’d say just crop the whole deal in one, regardless of size. No sense in trying to break them apart; probably do more harm than good. 🤷

Keep the substrate neat & hydrated and push on to the second flush. Don’t sweat the small ones too much.
