How can I get answers from the irs?

I filed my taxes around the first week I received them, let’s say late January. I then received a letter that they needed more information. I sent the requested information via mail and according to their letter, my refund would be issued 6-8 weekend upon receiving my information. It’s been about 12 weeks and there’s been no update. I’ve tried calling them and I can’t get to a person. There’s workaround directions on the internet which I also tried, but when I get to the point where I’m supposed to wait for a rep, the system said something like, “there’s too much call volume to take your call, please try again another day.”
I considered going to my local irs office, but recent reviews online say it’s closed. I also called the office to make an appointment and I got the same message about high call volume and to try calling back another day. What could I do?

The IRS can be painfully slow, all the more these days, as they have more processing on their plate on account of all the new pandemic related programs/credits/etc. I don't have a specific answer for you, but I wanted to drop this link for anyone else who may land on this page and is curious about their refund status, which you can check using some of the personal information on your return, here: https://sa.www4.irs.gov/irfof/lang/en/irfofgetstatus.jsp

Google the email of its customer service. There are few of them and one is always answering on time. Read more about one of them here. Those guys are mostly very quick to response. Hope they will solve your issues and hope that you will never have those again. I know how annoying it can be when you can't reach someone for a while.

Unless you owe them, they're slow as shit at getting back to you.
