I got my FFU on amazon (can be seen in my sig) and I love it.

That looks great just a word of caution when you first start out don’t be surprised to see contamination it’s not coming from your unit it’s just the process of doing things Best freind ive had with a ffu unit is a spray bottle with 10% bleach
Mines a little bit bigger than yours though….4 foot by 4 foot lol

Damn Dude, that's a monster! I think I understand what you're saying. Don't plan on slacking off on the aseptic technique, and I don't expect anything to be 100% But I am looking to tilt the odds more in my favor.

Since I have switched to the ffu and pouring agar plates, I have poured 125 plates and seen contams in 2 plates, one of which might have been from the spore syringe.
I wear gloves, sleeves, a mask, and a spray bottle of iso, and a foot operated induction sterilizer for the scalpel and needles. Seems like a good contam rate for a noob.
Just remember sterile technique fundamentals. It’s such a joy to be out of the SAB.

My SAB worked well, but OMG, it was such a PIA. Decontaminating the area and the box was annoying enough, and working inside the bloody thing was so awkward. It was cheap and effective, but...
The irony of the fact that the Feds paid for the FFU isn't lost on me either

Bleach is unnecassary and IMO not recommended. Also dont spray the filter directly. 70% isopropyl alcohol is the best and standard sanitizer used in the hobby.
To test your unit simply open some clean and unused agar plates infront of it while it running and leave them there for roughly 10mins. If they stay clean the unit is working properly.

The difference is night and day. I couldnt work longer than an hr at a time in my SAB cuz my neck and shoulders would be killing me and I always felt sore after a session. With my FFU I can work so efficiently I dont have to spend nearly the same amount of time to get twice the amount of work done and I can work for a whole day without any issues.
The feds paid for mine too thanks stimmy check
