It looks nice and dark. Did you make it or buy it? Is it covered with a bit of clear plastic?

Looks good, but is this in a sterile environment? If this is in open air then that print is fucked already.

Also make sure you dry your prints before storing them. This will greatly increase their shelf life.

My procedure was to: Cut the mushroom top with gloves and scissor sanitized then get a 8qt shoebox wipe it down with 70% iso get my foil cut it in half put it down in the shoebox with the mushroom cap close it, 4h later take switch the foil for a new one and waited 24h.

I might have fucked up there, just reopened the print and put it back in the shoebox for drying might affect his contamination rate but it't just a trial.

I do 1st print for 6-12 hours then 2nd print 12-24 hours. I do let prints dry for 24 hours before sealing them up to allow moisture to evaporate. What did the 1st print look like? Having it in open air isn’t a good idea but it isn’t ruined. No spore print is ever considered to be clean.

It looked like that same thing but faintly like there was less. And it wasn't open air I closed the lid.

2nd print is considered cleaner but still not clean. I keep both prints and label them 1st or 2nd. Why is the foil dimpled? I thought it was moisture the first time I looked at it.

No idea honestly it came like that and was the only foil I had. I hope this print is not full of contamination and I will be able to use it lol.

Take it to agar or BRF. Take it to grains at your own peril. How did you end up with a mushroom to take a spore print from in the first place?

I did MSS to grain, using brown rice.
But now I want to switch to agar with oats, bought everything but my agar doesn't seem to work. Or I'm being impatient but really excited since I inoculated 6 agar plates and still have 8 for transfer.
Another post for my agar if you wanna see it. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27793624
And I still got around 2oz using mss to brown rice.

I think its from a box of pre-cut foil sheets.. I have a box with foil that looks just like that.
Spores can take a while to germinate... first time I did spore solution to agar, I waited like a week and thought it failed, but I kept the plates sitting on my shelf.. I decided to look at them after about 2 more weeks and a couple of them had growth.... when doing germination plates, especially from spore solution and not a print or swab, I usually do a few extra plates just to make sure I get a couple options to work with.

That's good to hear, I was just impatient.
I'm just skeptical because all agar that I tried failed miserably probably due to lack of technique, I bought some pre-poured agar. And couldn't get a single one to germinate. So I decided to do my oned and that's where I am now.

I used pre-mades for a little while. If I was using them as a germ plate, and they didn't germinate, I would re-use the same plate and give it a second try... I was a lot more conservative with the pre made plates. I wish you the best of luck with doing your own plates.. it's definitely a skill set that opens a lot of doors in this hobby.
