Ok well I went on a 2 hour hunt today and I found alot of mushrooms, well not alot, but a good amount. I need help identifying them. I also found my first mushrooms that grew off of cow manure.
Here are all of my pictures.
Here is a red fungus I found, anything that can come from this?
These are some very small orange mushrooms I found growing off a dead log, anything?
Here I found some triplets, a good size compared to the others. They look like they are going bad though, how about these?
Here is one by a log.
Heres a closer shot. Hm?
Heres the gills.
Heres another on a log.
Here are the gills.
Heres yet another on a log.
And the gills.
Heres the last log shroom.
And the gills...
Were any of those log shrooms active you think? I'm trying to find out which ones are active.
Those damn cows were getting pretty close to me.
At last! I found my first cow manure mushrooms. I'm really hoping those are active mushrooms. Anyone know what those are?
Heres the actual size of them.
Here are its gills, they were way up there so I couldnt get a good shot.
They really rubbed off on me, and they were very light and fragile, the bigger one fell out of the cow manure so I placed it in a cozy tree gap, I just went and got it 30 minutes ago and now I'm making a spore print of it. The cap fell into different pieces, but I put all of them face down for the spore print, will it still be ok? I left the smaller mushroom inside the cow manure and placed the manure by a tree so that no cows would step on it.
Heres a patch of cow poo, is it possible more can grow on that?
I found a very odd black fungus.
And it rubbed off with a slimy ink as I touched it. What is that stuff?
Well thats all I have for you, please relpy to this I'd really like some advice, opinions, and much help. Thankyou in advanced.
Nope. Nothing active. The mushrooms you found growing on cow manure are some spcies of Coprinus... don't even need the spore print for those guys. The caps of those mushrooms will probably turn to a liquid goo over time. Notice the mushrooms didn't bruise blue. It's not active.
The closest you came to finding something active would be the mushrooms you found which you called "triplets." Now given that I don't know the habitat, spore print color, etc. I can't be 100% sure of this ID but they look a lot like Panaeolus papilionaceus (sphinctrinus), an inactive species of panaeolus.
