A Good democracy in 2022.
    #27790183 - 05/24/22 03:11 AM (1 year, 11 months ago)

Okay, here's my idea.
This how i imagine a good democracy in 2022.

1.Imagine a website that contains everything every -politition- ever said.

2. any video or quote of the politian on this  -must- be linked to an nft of the same video or quote. else wise the public would know the politicians in it do not condone it to be used.
(they are human, they own the right to data privacy.)

3. and then the nft would be owned by the polititians in the video. split ownership if multiple ppl.

4. each politician owns their own blockchain. linking all the information they wish to share to the public. this creates a system that makes it impossible for media to spin the truth.

5. a few notes.
 • For this to work, every user would need to be comfortable with reading at least some code, to check that clips are on the polititicans blockchain, thus proving no spin.
 • it might be giving too much ability for polititians themselves: eg liberal and labor just decide they wont add clips to their blockchain if they contain the 'opposition' also. theoretically it could dissolve into pure tribalism. But hey anarchy is kinda in rn.

Sounds like an interesting idea, a sort of centralized political fact checking system that can't be corrupted as a result of blockchain verification.

However, the news media will always spin the truth. They take quotes and videos and spin them all the time. So this wouldn't change that. It might however allow people to fact check the media better, but a lot of people aren't interested in fact checking. They just take the news at face value, especially when they like what they hear.

Am I understanding your proposal correctly as giving absolute authority to individual politicians to censor and control public information about themselves?

I'm not sure there could ever be good democracy, but your proposal sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Not quite.
Everyone can still say whatever they like about the polititian, it's just that nobody except the polititian can say *for certain* "politian x said y"

I think the most useful application would be in debunking deepfakes and other such misinformation.
We would be able to verify that ideas and policies came right from the horse's mouth, and weren't being twisted by the media.

I don't know if this is a good idea it's just an interesting thought I had, it's been fun sharing it

We can already reliably fact check stuff now and most voters don’t give a shit.

The electorate is vibe-based, facts do not matter.

Wait, so, what if the politician simply lies on their NFT?

I guess we would just have to take them at their word?

They have no reason to lie because blockchain. Blockchain makes them tell the truth.

Or you could just try googling a politician? All the info is already there. If you don’t know how to parse through information for yourself and come to your own conclusions, then the problem isn’t the media.
