Very fast colonization.
I've had spore prints sitting around for almost 20 years. Then I saw the water tub tek posted here and a light went on. They were definitely still good. I managed an inflatable mono tub for a batch of Golden Halo, didn't like how it turned out. They grew fine, but then gave up the ghost before the second flush.

Were there any difficulties getting the 20yr old spores to germinate? That’s impressive

Edit*Ahem, never mind nothing to see here*

Not sure what contam it might be, if any! But it’s fluffy, doubled in size in about 48hours and does seem to like water as it absorbs any fine mist landing on it keeping it dry at all times, unlike the mycelium surrounding it. (It’s the dry blobs on the left and middle-ish of the photo)

I’m glad they give this possibility because the kits are still quite expensive (around 55 usd)

I think that's just fluffy mycelium. I could be wrong but I wouldn't worry about that too much. Cool that they will send you a replacement with anything at all iffy. I'm sure the cost of making those kits vs how much they charge makes up for all the replacements on their side.
If you are curious, heat up a pin with a lighter and scrape/singe that fluffy stuff (just a little scrape should do). My bet it that it bruises blue and if it does then it's just weird mycelium for sure. Contamination doesn't bruise psilly blue. Some cultures make weird fluffy stuff or blobs or other strange formations, especially ms (multispore) cultures that have a lot of diversity and potentially competitive individuals withing the community. On agar that culture would likely spend a good few transfers sectoring out a lot of times. I suspect you get some shrooms from that and it sounds like you scored a free kit too because people a are nice.
Good luck. Don't toss that out. Just keep watching it.

I agree on the semp look. This is from the fimetaria/semi project. It will be very exciting to see what it is. This culture is spring fruiting imo.

I hadn't done cubes for a while and tried crossing Taman Negara with Redboy to get a TN which drops brown spores, but only the TN expressed so far in the cross. I've grown TN enough to recognize it, it has similar quirks to PE.
This was before I had the interest to try serial dilution so next time around I'll try that and actually go about mating monokaryons.

Well my friend it looks like you’re right on this one! I did what you suggested, pardon my surgical work here haha, but if I’m not mistaken (and I could be, being colorblind ) but it does look like it’s turning blue! The small piece I got off of it smell absolutely mushroomy and delicious too.

I guess that means a free kit for me. Hopefully they don’t read this forum
Thanks a bunch!! Now I can sleep good knowing my babies are a ok 👍

How did you get such a good picture? Looks like there is no glass or anything in the way.

just a decent camera up close Nikon D3300 keep thinking about getting a better Micro lense, but shit, who has the money for that? I also put white vinegar in the PC whilst doing the grains which supposedly keeps the glass clear

For sure. Maybe apply a blur filter so it fits in on this site a little better.

I think these are Mexican Jalisco, the non-cubensis ones. I don’t see pins instead see mounds of primordial. Is that normal?

Should I keep fae low? Any suggestions appreciated.

Genetics marked "p.nsw"
Anyone ever came across such a label?
@nichrome, checked the mycelia of the jar, and it's zero chance that it's subtropica.
So we are in for a treat of some kind i belive
