BRF cakes with shoebox?
    #27787572 - 05/21/22 10:17 PM (2 years, 7 months ago)

Can you use cakes for shoebox/monotub method (break them up and mix or whatnot) after you have dunked/rolled them and they've had a flush?

You can definitely shred/chop/crumble the cakes and mix them into Coir/Verm and make a shoebox with them. You can even just put ~6 cakes together in the center of a shoebox and bury them in Coir/Verm and make a shoebox that way.

I shredded up BRF cakes for the shoeboxes I currently have going. Hasn't reached fruiting yet, but they are developing really well.

This was before flush though.

I did however crumble a BRF cake that had gone through two flushes into a grain jar.. seems to be working, stuff is growing we'll see

I don't know if I would shred my cakes after the first flush just because of all the extra bacteria that will be on the cakes. Once you shred a cake you run the risk of spreading the bacteria all through your tub and it not fruiting.

mycelium is strong though and you could get more from doing it like that then your kit fruiting chamber.

Feeling lucky? Cuz that's a bit more of a gamble.

I broke my cakes up and had good success but I did it right when I birthed my jars.
Let us know how it turns out for you.

Good luck whatever you decide!

I missed the part where they've already had a flush. If you want to put them into a shoebox I would just bury them for reasons that @Vibetyme explained. All the best

Do you have a PC and ability to do agar? If not, then PFjars are the way.
