i don’t think he weighed them but i don’t remember all the details on the post. they did seem cracker dry right after dehydration though so i’d imagine it was a pretty small amount of water content. bags aren’t great for storage i definitely agree, but the test was done in all the same conditions so if the bag were the main culprit i think all the shrooms woulda been bendy after that. i think the point is less that all shrooms need to be dried for 24 hours (obviously you can get away with less with smaller fruits) but more that 24 hours will not hurt anything in a meaningful way, so instead of gambling on a 5hr dehydrator run you can just leave it for 24 & not worry about it

I had a batch of Thai Koh Samui’s that did well and colonized extremely fast. They produced lots of great fruits but the potency was a little less than what I’d experienced in the past. I wonder now if I did something wrong during the process (had something at too high a temp or too low a humid or such and such at respective step. Makes me wonder.

The man himself shows up and we keep talking about his post. lol
Here it is by the way, mushboys 'cracker dry' comparison!
Another thing to consider with mushrooms that are not 100% dried. As they contain the weight of the water, you cannot effectively determine the dose by weight. When we talk about a 1 or 2 gram dose, we mean 1 or 2 grams of 100% dry mush materials. If your dose contains some unknown quantity of water because they were not originally dried effectively, or reabsorbed water through poor storage, the additional weight of the water content means you do not know what your dose should be by weight. That is in addition to the destruction of actives due to oxygen and water exposure.
So to sum up, there is no up side to taking short cuts when drying. Use a dehydrator, at it's highest setting, for 24 hours. You may be spending a few extra cents on electricity to save most of the fruits of your labor. <pun intended>
