Then again, me and probably some others use only popcorn (tried rye and failed). To each its own. I guess all grains are ok, key is in preparation.
I’ve only been using popcorn and don’t really have any complaints about it. I have some lions mane that doesn’t seem too excited bout popcorn, but my cubes have been thriving.

ive seem LMs form a lot of fruiting bodies in pure corn jars, but the problem is their size and placement. for a small corn sub with nothing else you'd want to LM to fruit out of a single point, havent really discovered a way to do that passively yet
the single filter on the lid top doesnt seem to favor fruiting at the top, instead they go a bit below it where the humidity is better.

Thanks! They're in the GH at low to mid 70's, although they don't mind it a bit warmer.

Corn is easy cus u can underhydrate it and people say its nutition to surface area ratio is shit but even after multiple flushes there is probably still more nutrition in spent spawn

The fact that you can underhydrate it doesn't give it much benefit. Hydrating properly takes you like 2 batches to figure out. The surface area is shit because you get less mycelium per jar that can fang out into the sub when you spawn. I will start a hate club for corn. Just the name. Corn.

The rule is if it falls over from its own weight you got to eat it fresh…
I remember my first harvest. It took all summer to get fruits… got about a half pound and ate em all with friends… it was great. But very frustrating, I grew every color mold there is I bet…. Lol
