A little hunt in the garden today. Active Gyms still flourishing;
~ More Amanitas too, looked like a Christmas party around the Birches;
~ Honestly can't believe how many subs have popped up over the week. Maybe all those stem butts and rotting caps spread across the garden beds over previous years have finally paid off.
~ Best patch!
~ Some other photos;
~
Will have a quick look in the forest tommorow.

Hi, I’m new here. Hoping to learn more. But wondering if there are foraging groups or similar things that someone new like me can join to go hiking and looking with others ☺️

Some absolutely crazy bluing on some of these Nick! Wish I had land for a true patch of my own haha
EDIT: after sitting here puzzling about the why the ones underneath were the ones that were 'bruised', I've realised these are spores, not bluing Still crazy intense colour!

Its always nice seeing patches sporulate with vigor
@ Betaboo, Welcome. Don't think you'll find anything like that here. But you should check out Bob's Hunters guide in his sig link. It should give you more than enough info to start making some solo find of your own in no time.
~ Some subs & other things from the forest today;
~ Inactives;
~ Plus a couple more finds from the garden;
~ Thought I might as well collect some of the leaves that gathered heavy spore deposits & spread them in mulch beds where they'd be better off;
~ Couldn't help but pick some of the better ones to dry later. The bruising on some of these was incredible;

Yesterday I went back to the place where I'd found a lot of pins the previous week, and there'd been a dry spell of four-five days in-between.
A lot of the pins were dried out, sadly, but in a couple of (moister?) areas they'd grown still, however the colouring on them as they've grown sort of threw me - pretty much the only photos I've seen of more mature subs the cap still has that caramel-ish colour, rather than this kind of caramel centre/pale outer. This is only my second season, and last year everything I found or picked had the smaller, bell-like cap shape before they'd had a chance to fully mature.
Anyway pics below: be interested to know if this is normal/what was going on here... With apologies if this is a real dumb query!

I'm not all that experienced either but my intuition tells me the inconsistent colouring is probably the result of the inconsistent weather we've been having... wet/dry/wet/sunny etc.
I had a really good hunt on Sunday and then had a sickie today so thought I'd check my original spot to see if anything had fruited there yet. Oddly still nothing in the easiest spot to get to (though maybe people have been picking?) but found a decent handful around at the other spot in the area. Though the fruits were a few metres adjacent to where I was finding them last year. Interesting how things shift and turn.
Might post some pics from those later in the week. Had enough of the computer today!

Thanks, yeah that's pretty much what I assumed had happened - guess will see if anyone else chimes in to confirm, but seems a fairly safe bet.
I also found a new patch about 25m from where my prev pics were taken. Seems smaller but "newer" in that there's a few just past the pin stage - spotted two next to a log then on closer look realised there were at least a dozen smaller ones coming through. Will pop back there maybe tomorrow for another look.
Good work on the hunt - be cool to see some of your pics, and yeah, totally understand wanting to get off the computer for a bit. I seem to live on it these days...

Can you pick a couple and post photos of the stipe and gills, i’d be interested to see how they look with a more complete set of angles. They look unusual, from above. Perhaps make an ID thread with them.

Had my first proper hunt yesterday, visiting a handful spots around the inner North. Happy to find a couple subs at each and lots of promising young pins. I like how shiny gold they get when they're a little dry. The last spot I checked had the biggest patch I've seen in my 4 seasons foraging. Saw one, then another, and realised they were everywhere! It was my most public spot, very close to the city and right around rush hour so I had to keep an eye out and pick in a few short bursts. A nice little thrill to end the day! 209g fresh, 31.25g dry

Spotted a couple of Psilocybe tasmaniana today. Didn’t have much time to check as it was already dark, I was in a hurry & only happened passing through the area;

I went back yesterday to do that and start an ID thread, only to find... all gone, aside from this one crushed and manky-looking specimen under the leaf litter:
It's certainly blued on the stem, so I'm assuming it was kosher, but it looks as if someone else found the patch and was much less hesitant than me to just hoover em all up, dammit.
Kind of bummed but took a wander and a couple hundred metres away found this new little patch tucked away, much less likely to be found by accident, so might grab the larger of these tonight:
Bummed about the others going, as there were at three or four dozen there. Live and learn, I guess...

Nice finds. Some finds from later in the afternoon… ~ Finally managed to find a way to one of my preferred forest sub spots. But there were no subs fruiting there yet. I did however, manage to find Someone’s guerrilla grow setup. This stuff was not here last winter; Looks like they put aside their stuff after harvest to be ready to use next growing season… Now I don’t mind if someone does a guerrilla grow in the bush, you got to do what you got to do. But PLEASE! Once the harvest is over pack everything up & take your shit with you, leave no trace. Otherwise it deafeats the purpose of trying to stay hidden. So I did this person a favour and loaded the car up with a free wire cage, some dynamic lifer & seasol to be used in the garden. Hopefully when they come back in spring and realise that the spot has been dismantled. That they grow somewhere else, or at least pack up once the harvest is done. ~ A little sub patch nearby, was honestly too Sunny for good photos though;
~ Also here’s some Clitocybe & Parasola Sp;

Good work! That's quite bizarre... don't understand the need to fence that small area off?

Groups of Wallabies and kangaroos sometimes pass through the area. I suppose they didn’t want their crop trampled by them.

Hello! First post Went for a walk this afternoon and saw a spot that looked promising, central city location . Looks like it gets picked a bit but not a whole lot! It's in a fairly random spot that would not be on people's minds.

Subs found at an old faithful spot over the weekend. Must be a late start for the season as it wasn't going bananas like usual, but still a fun day out in the bush.
