You make good points about a consistent flame, and I've used one and it's a nice convenience. What's always bothered me about having a consistent flame is that the flame is causing hot air to rise, creating constant air movement. Considering that the flame is used only a tiny fraction of the time spent working it seems beneficial to temporarily lose the use of a hand to toggle the flame on and off the few times it's needed. I often spend 1-2 hours working in my SAB and the flame is only needed for about 1 minute of that time. The rest of the time if it's on it's just burning fuel and making air move.

I got a sterilizer unit but I end up using my torch for loops.

That's one reason why I like using LC to noc up my jars. No flame needed. For transfers I use a 18G or 20G needle stuck on a nail, it heats up red hot in no time, even with a smaller flame and cools off fast so it doesn't need cooling in the receiving plate. Faster work flow which in return reduces open flame time.
I am looking into getting a big LPG bottle with a hose attachment to run a bunsen burner. Same bottle to run the gas burner for the PC so it's all interchangeable.

The problem with an alcohol burner is if you spill it then you have a puddle of invisible fire.
Sure a torch or bunsen can fall over but then you just pick it up and you don't have a problem.
Alcohol burners are hella dangerous.
Also they are a major step down in performance vs any type of gas torch. It takes 2-3 times longer to sterilize a tool with it.

I'm ok with walking away from a torch for a moment as long as their isn't a dang kitty running around the house.

The alcohol burner I'm using is specialized for dentistry. It's pretty hard to spill anything unless you turn it upside down.
I do agree that it's kind of slow, but I'm in no rush.

I use one of these with the footswitch. As fast as butane and never runs out in the middle of doing work. I love it.
