I'm not sure if this is even realistic for you but you could just call a post office in Nevada and buy a PO box and have the spores sent there. Then u could pickup the spores whenever u got the time and gas.

Get a bag of dried mush and drop a few gill fragments on agar. You'll be wading through canopies in no time.

Seriously though there are lots of nice folk around here who are not scared that california will hunt them down over a spore print. As far as I know that law has never been enforced there. I have never heard of anyone getting busted over a print in the mail. To start with usps is federally protected and opening a regular non conspicuous envelope by anyone other than the addressee/recipient would require a warrant signed by a judge. There is very little in the world that fits in an envelope that would be that kind of cause for alarm.

Just stick around and make some friends here. Get your post count up and maybe be a little more hush hush about your concerns which are not that drastic to begin with. Admitting that you know they're illegal implicates whoever sends them to you.

FYI it is really hard to identify spores that are not labeled with species name. A folded piece of foil with "GT" written on it is just a piece of foil with letters on it. To properly identify the species of the spores someone would have to run the genetic sequencing on them or grow them out and identify the fruits/actives which is illegal. Very very unlikely that any trouble would come from receiving spores in CA. Just don't write "Psilocybe" on the foil and you're golden.

This is a really interesting answer. Another reason to look into agar

That is the route I took for my blue magnolia shrooms. I Just took a tiny amount of dried gill material and placed that on agar.

A whole host of shit grew. I decided to keep that funky looking plate around for a while and it finally grew a plate pin.

I plucked that out with my tweezers, transfered to clean agar and off to the races I went.

Agar isn't hard you just need a PC.

I use my instant pot.

Working with agar is easier than baking cookies.

Nichrome is correct. I’ll never give details or my source, but you might be surprised what vendors in decriminalized areas might do for you if you develop a good customer relationship with them. It never hurts to ask; the worst thing that could happen is that they say no.

And for the record, I’m not talking about actual fruits.
