Thanks guys I've been lucky with the conditions in my neck of the woods. Checked some more patches today and while they're scarce they were on the move in most areas.

Wow Bob some amazing pics there! I'm bloody jealous π€£.
The Stipes on the third photo look very dark for subs. Another trick for the young gamers like me lol.
I'm hoping by next weekend they will be fruiting near me!
Happy hunting everyone and have a good weekend.

They are dark and it's typical of waterlogged and aging specimens to have dark stipes. Keep it up as they'll be on the move in most areas soon enough.

Didn't do too badly today, plenty of pins to come back for. Got about 40 decent specimens.

I went down deep south again past myponga yesterday and it is still very dry. Possibly some activity in the micro climates but deep south is still waking up imo and wont start pumping for another few weeks. heaps of folks out, cars at every gate already, will get smashed today no doubt lol.

Hello all. Great to see another season ramping up and some familiar faces.
I probably wont get a hunt in for a least a few more weeks unfortunately but a mate checked out my usual earlier season spot. This high altitude spot produces its first pins on the 21st of May almost without fail every season.
Sure enough the first pins were emerging today.

There are so many edible hunters out these days. It blows me away the increase in activity I have seen in so many forests these last few years.

Hey, was wondering if itβs been a late start to the season in SA, if so how many weeks do you think itβs behind this year compared to last couple years ?
Any comments would be appreciated a lot? ( WA is really behind this year )

Bob would have a better take than myself about this. I havent even bothered looking yet, last year i found my first subs at the start of june so im waiting for june to get here before i go looking for them. I was finding them up until the end of august, the whole of winter produced here in SA.
