 Crazy Little Velvet Puffball Mushrooms

Found on the edge of wet eucalypt forest - not sure if it was growing on wood or in soil. They felt velvety and the inside was pure white and very dense/resistant - almost like styrofoam.
Mad little things. Anyone have any idea? I've never seen anything like them.
