Do you have any pics of the bruising? They look an awful lot like active subs, but I donβt see any bruising on any of the mushrooms pictured. Or How about a spore print?

What kind of wood chips are they? Redwood ? Definitely need a spore print and updated photos of any bruising, which should stand out. And a few of them look to be missing an umbo. I'd be very careful. And definitely wait for a TI to get back.

Hey since you're a TI can I ask how you know for sure without a spore print? Genuine question so I can learn more.

I agree it π― looks like psilocybe. The only thing that made me question was the lack of bruising. If I saw bruising it wouldβve felt confident to say psilocybe. You can see the Carmel colored caps, chalk white stipes, and you can see the separable gelatinous pellicle around the perimeter of the cap. Growing off of what looks like colored hardwood chips. If I saw spore dropped on the stipe or a neighboring cap, or bruising I wouldβve been more confident. Mushrooms vary a lot in overall shape and appearance, but the fundamentals seem to always be present. Iβm not a TI, but have been hunting for almost 4 years now on the west coast USA.

It's sort of hard to explain. Once you see a type of mushroom enough times you just know what it is. Like learning a new language, eventually you stop having to sound out the words and you can just tell what a word is and means

Yeah that makes sense. I would have personally done a spore print but that's just me and I'm not saying not to trust a TI either.

Hi guys, spore print was good, and verified by 2 others as subs. Sorry I was out yesterday and didn't get to log back in.
I ended up having 1g dry and had a great time.
Thanks peeps for the replies. Great site this one!

These are definitely Psilocybe subaeruginosa or similar.

Would you really feel that safe telling someone to eat them without the spore print? Or without photos of ANY bruising?
Because I wouldn't. Leave that to the trusted identifiers.
