Transfers to new plates done. Now I wait to see how they are again. I also cut the tip of the swab off and smashed it into the agar on a plate, just in case something goes wrong with the transfers. Looks like I'll be pouring more plates this weekend. Who knew I would go through so many plates (50) so fast!

So here area couple of my transfers from the swab plate. It seems healthy to me. Anyone see anything wrong with these so far. I did drop one down my steps and it knocked the wedge loose. Hopefully it will be fine.

they look fine so far. you’ll have to let them grow out more to truly know. i drop plates occasionally in the SAB & knock wedges loose. it should be fine. you’ll know real fast if you have bacteria on there lol

Ok so my plate have grown out a bit. I would like to do at least 1 more transfer before making a master and getting one ready to put on grain. If anyone has a better suggestion of where to take my next transfer from please let me know. I'm guessing where to take them from anyway. For this one I was thinking of taking the wedge from the 7 to 8 o'clock position of where the actual wedge rested after being dropped.

For this one I was thinking around the 12 or 4 and 5 o'clock and possibly another one of it is suggested.

any of that organized growth should be good but i think your assumptions are solid. that’s exactly where i woulda taken my transfers

Thank you hazyhorse! So I did learn something from reading threads and different teks. Before I inoculate some grain do I let the whole plate get covered or just enough to get some wedges and drop them in there. I plan on doing another bulk grow with 1.5 kilo of oats in a bag as my spawn.

you just need enough for wedges but usually people let ‘em grow out to cover a fair bit of the plate to get more myc & make sure it’s clean before sending to grains

How can you tell if it's clean? It looks ok to my untrained eye.
