3 questions bout casings after harvest
    #2777092 - 06/09/04 05:15 AM (19 years, 8 months ago)

Well my buddies casing was harvested recently, and his casing layer is pretty much raped. There were mushrooms on just about every square centimeter of surface.

1st question: What should, if anything, be done so it can have a equally good 2nd flush? Should he add a new casing layer? The casing layer was straight coir and theres still some on there, but it looks like it got mauled.

2nd question: When he dunks, should he dunk in the fridge? or is that only necessary when going from incubating to fruiting?

3rd question: Does he need to incubate again after the dunk, or just put it straight back into fruiting conditions?

Ty for all the help, im sure my buddy will appreciate all your info.

p.s. hes not sure if he got EVERY pin off the casing cuz there were tons of needle point sized pins and they like to blend in.. if he didnt get every single one off, is he going to have problems with contams?

peace,

Day tripper

You can apply new casing material to patch up the bald spots.

Dunking is good, and cold shocking is never necessary with p. cubensis, so you don't have to put your casing in the fridge.

Put it straight back into the fruiting chamber, no extra incubation needed.
