I think I found a bunch of subs around the Canberra area.
I'm new to hunting so I would very much appreciate yay or nay from people who know what to look for.
Found in suburban gardens, bark mulch and mixture of other various plants near by, shrubs, no big trees.

Everything pictured appears to be subs. Just make sure they all bruised blue.

Nothing wrong in picking a few immature specimens for an id request. Shows details like veil development etc. which are helpful for a proper id.

Fair enough. I guess there is a lot of differing opinions out there as I've heard to never pick them, rather just photograph them,, so they have a chance to at least drop some spores.

I donβt pick pins primarily because they dry up to weight almost nothing. If you let them mature, they drop spores and they will weigh a lot more typically. Especially some meaty ones like that.

Of course, if you're familiar with the species and able to identify them in the field there is no need to pick pins.

Yeah I get it. I guess I was in a bit of a high and mighty mood running my mouth (or fingers) when I really shouldn't be.
No disrespect meant.
I just love mushrooms lately.

I picked a lot of pins my first season I actually found actives. Several people let me know not to do that. I didnβt understand at first, but I donβt think thereβs anything wrong with letting people know. I honestly didnβt know in the beginning.
