Oh most definitely. If they are properly done, not so bad. But hard to trust anybody. I got two different bags, one was 20 bucks and the other was close to 30. The one for 30 has horse manure based substrate, with rye grains and a layer of straw. It's nearly 4 pounds and if it was properly sterilized, it should have some pretty good flushes.
But like was already mentioned here: Investing in your own stuff is the way to go. You can get some good quality bags for cheap to start out, but the more I read, fruiting chambers or Monotubs is where the big flushes come from.

i think the brand i use is pennington? but anything that doesn’t have corn in it should be fine. mostly milo & millet is best
Thats for sure. No one tells that a space heater can stay on when it's set to turn off. I went out for a few hours. While I was gone there was a big temp drop. I knew my space would kick on so didn't worry. However, when I walked into the room, it was nearly 97 degrees . I may have killed my mycelium. So far, it doesn't looked harmed, but I'll know in a few days. I found myself apologizing to my hopefully future mushbabies.
And thanks for the advice with WBS. The bag I have does corn in it, but the others don't and they're not that expensive.

cubes are pretty resilient, as long as it didn’t dry out too much on the surface they should bounce back. that’s the thing that sucks with heaters/fans etc. they theoretically work fine but in practice you run into shit like that.
of course! i think corn is fine from a sterilization stand point, i think the reason you don’t want it in your WBS mix is because it’s hella starchy & will make a sticky mess in your jars. but if it floats you can just skim it off the top when you do your rinses before the boil

You may get lucky with spiked temps for a short period of time.. when I first started out I had some reptile heat pads and Bluetooth thermometers... when I got home one day I realized that I screwed something up and the temp spiked for almost 24 hours.. I got lucky and everything turned out alright...
As long as you didn't keep it at a high temp for a long period of time, and your mycelium didn't dry up, you'll probably be fine. Contams just tend to flourish at higher temperatures, so there is a higher chance that you allowed some contamination to pop up.. hopefully you'll be in the clear.

Edit: looks like hazyhorse beat me to it... but that took forever to type, so I'm posting it anyway

Thats true. I looked up on it that day and found different temps given. Like between how high of temps. 102 - 120 was given as a temp that kills mycelium. So far, things are looking good though. Still have my grow bag going in hopes it turns out ok. But I have come to accept it if it does come out to be a loss.
My agar dish however, is looking very good. Been a week and it has some growth in spots for now with no signs, as I can tell that is, of contam. I do have some rye grain, but it is expensive. I found the WBS without corn and it's about 10 bucks for a good sized bag. Even cheaper on Amazon. Going to try it out.

Not really sure, but the high temp was around an hour or so. It hailed that day and was a big drop in temp and it confused my space heater. Didn't take long to cool the room back down to 79. So far things look ok. I felt like a failing parent . I said "Oh no. I killed my mushbabies".
hazyhorse has given some good advice, but your reply confirms what was said. I like that because the same info comes from different sources, confirming the info. So with that, I thank you for your reply.
