Ask them with what money they bought the bonds

Interesting that the rich dad, poor dad guy is sold on gold and silver because he doesnt trust fiat money to be as reliable in holdiong his purchasing power. I totally agree with him.

I'm not brave enough to put my savings into gold

At least in the bank a b&e is not going to cost me my fortune

I got about $500 in sprotts vaults which are held by canada, I'm not brave enough to even put all my money in that even though its safe from break ins

I bought a silver teaspoon to eat ice cream with, it can dig ice cream out of the container straight from the freezer, I think everyone should have a silver ice cream spoon

So been a few years since I've been here. Just wanted to jump on on this.
:threadmonitor:
Toss in my little bit. I just sold my silver. 😢 Was able to get $2 over market and $5 over what I paid. So not too bad. Still have my silver mining stock which I think will generate a better return. Also setting on a little bit of gold and BTC. Blah blah blah anyways interested in flowing and discussion.

My PSLV and PHYS and PaxG is all up

PSLV the most, my 38 shares is up $40, its $10.25 and my average price is $9.20

I wasnt sure if my metals would beat a savings account but they have, let's hope it holds up till I cash out

personal finance canada sub reddit wantsme to sell everything now and put it into a gic if I need the funds soon or a ETF if I dont need them for years

I think I'm going to push my luck with metals

But I dont trust it, if they weren't printing money his would it.be possible for inflation

Yea they just "buy bonds" with money they create...idk about the bank of Canada but the Federal Reserve just creates money and lends it out to other banks or the U.S. government through bonds and such.

Money does get "created" - That's why the money supply increases and That's why there is inflation ultimately.  Somebody had the authority to create it somewhere and it's those central banks pretty much.

I stack a little silver here and there, I bought these 3 on cyber monday for a little under 30 a piece...

I really like most of the Tokelau designs, I've been collecting them for a few years now.

The Tokelau designs are usually my favorite ones that have the queen on them...I guess it will be the king now on those type of coins soon...

I like silver with cool art on it. I'm a big fan of silver shield stuff, some of their mini mintage rounds are really cool looking. plus the collector value adds to the overall worth on some of those considerably.

It makes it easier to hold coins with awesome designs on them and I don't mind paying a few dollars more for them, but I need to get some more plain rounds that would be easier for me to sell when the time comes...and some bigger chunks too when I can afford it.

are people buying silver coins because they are coin collectors? - unless you are trading large amounts of silver its pretty useless trying to buy silver coin as an investment , silver is cheap and most coin designs are minted in their millions.
if you are going to buy silver as an investment gamble buy at auction and pay no more the scrap/spot price (unless its something very rare )

Times have changed...the physical silver market doesn't work that way any longer...

Today if I walked into any coin shop in my city to sell my silver they would offer me MORE than scrap/spot.

The only time you find it as scrap/spot price or lower is once in a while at estate sales/garage sales and thrift stores and that's just because they don't know what they have...but then it's usually sterling and odd-weighted.

Lucky the only places around here are gold buyer stores I never tried to sell but I'd probably have better luck selling to an online dealer like silvergoldbull

If I had to sell I'd probably sell on r/pmsforsale and give both me and the buyer a good deal

must be different where i am in the UK , unless a coin (or item ) is very rare all i will get for silver of any kind is scrap value if i want to resell it.

* you can see this easy enough online by going to websites that buy /sell gold /silver etc,  - look at what they are selling silver coins for and what they will give you to buy them - you are always paying a markup over the spot/scrap price when you buy coins this way.

** just checked jmbullion , atm they sell 1oz silver maples for $34.06 they buy them back for $26.46 so atm you will be loosing $7.58 on every coin you buy off them until silver goes up enough to cover the original loss over against spot price.

A proper LCS should give you a bit of the premium back if the coin is in good condition, all I have around be are scrap gold buyers though, and they lowball, a bit better than a pawn shop, but still low

Some pawn shops up North were advertising paying 95% of spot price buying silver. Dunno what they were paying for gold.

As well, two of the pawn shops/second-hand stores were only actively buying metals and guns/ammo from walk-ins.
