Hi I'm new here and this will be my first post. Am also new at mushroom cultivation, and are currently looking for tools to use for my sterilization. So I have read that an pressure cooker is essential for cultivation and getting rid of contamination. But haven't found and good tips on which one to get. I have been checking out multicookers and instant pots. They seems awesome for both cooking food and using to sterilization. So would appreciate any help finding an good? What do you guys use? Thanks

american members swear by presto, i don't have access to these so I'm using a cheap chinese 15L and it's working just fine some people use instapot but since it runs on lower psi you need to adjust your times welcome to the shroomery

The instant pots are too small imo. You need something that can fit a decent amount of jars.
Presto's are the affordable option. If you don't mind spending some money then you might consider looking at All American PC's.

I would recommend looking at Presto's line of PC's. They have a few different sizes depending on your needs and are inexpensive. Some people use Instapot-type vessels, but wanna say those folks are in the minority. They are more geared for super small grows. Going with a more traditional PC will provide you with a lot more support should you have questions. And they're just awesome. Suitable for a beginner or a pro.

Both Presto and All American seems awesome, top of the line. But can't find them on a European site unfortunately. Where is best place to get on at a good price?

instant pots are good if you're just dabbling as a hobby. They can sterilize and make a mean stew. I bought an 8qt instant pot pro, which is the largest size I could find. A flaw with it though, they limit your sterilization times to 30 minutes, most grain sterilization recommend to keep it under 15psi for 1.5hr-2.5hrs.
I fit 4 or 5 16oz mason jars in the 8qt instant pot
If you want to grow as anything more than a hobby though, definitely just skip the instant pot and get a presto pot.

I used an instantpot for pf tek for a while which works fine if you run longer with it.
If you're able to track down a Presto, I'd go with that. I have a 16qt Presto that I'm happy with. It was around $130 in the states. It's plenty big enough for what I'm doing.

That's the same size as the one I was using but probably a newer model with more options. The buttons are almost the same but mine didn't have a pressure level button.
I assume it ran between 10-12psi but was fine for cakes. I ran them for at least two hours, had to do half batches at a time, and let them cool over night for good measure.
I didn't know about venting before switching to the presto. I would think you can do the same with an IP but never tried.

200€ including customs and shipping for a Presto. Being a European you won´t get it better. As Europe isn´t known for canning, you´ll have to cut corners if you don´t go for a Presto. I once had an 8qt noname, and it wasn´t that bad at all. But it was a game changer, and i also got one from the bay. Insta pots work on small scale though.

what I did also... there is no substitute locally at this price point
another option is 1980s Silit Sicomatic bought secondhand and modified to run at 15psi and over. I used one for two years and grew a lot of mush with it but compared to the Presto it's a lot of fuckery, and modification may be dangerous for your future safety if you are not good at things such as that. But if you wanna take a risk, it'll get you PCing for as low as 20 bucks secondhand

There is alot of pressure cookers here. But I don't know how good they are. My grandparents used to can alot of things. To bad Presto isn't available here or there I've read an good recommendation of an European version. Anyway gonna start with instant pot and see how it goes... Great for cooking meals I've heard lol

I use an instant pot too, great for rice and does the job on sterilizing too! Just be aware that there's not much space and you can only pc 2 or 3 quarts in there. Put on manual mode, high pressure, turn off the keep warm function and pc your rye for 240 mins, thats how I do it 😎
