Mine did the same thing. With advice from the community I left it alone for about 24 hours, recased and misted heavily. It's doing better now. I'd post in here with pictures though. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27637997

Or the official panaeolus thread. Good luck!

When I recase it should the casing layer already be moist or dry?

I'm by no means an expert but I was told when I recase it to give it a good misting. The guy said to basically soak it and then let it do it's thing.

EDIT: before you take my advice I'd go to the thread I linked you to and post pictures and ask your question there. They know all about pans and will help you out for sure.

Coco coir has nutrients in it. Also it needs to be very...very thinly layered.

Well one of the totes that colonized the casing layer started pinning before I could recase it. Guess something must have gone right I guess.

For pans I would case with 50/50+ and save the coir for the sub.  And, yeah you should have it at field capacity.

Only case once Substrate is fully colonized.

Keep casing until it fruits; is how I deal with this issue. Make sure my casing is moist and FAE is good.

If you case it; an it keeps growing an start to show Aerial Mycelium for too long, then case again. FAE is important at this stage.

You can patch as you go. And no. Coir has no notable nutrition to it... probably could use a thicker casing. And as mentioned, wait until substrate is 100% colonized.

Lovely, Here is a picture of mine BEFORE I put a casing on the right one. Which started show aerial mycelium knots.

Fresh Air Aids to pinning, but fresh air also dries out your casing layer...

How much you spray and mist depends on how much Fresh Air Exchange you let in. Fresh Air is important at this stage. Mist only when needed an make sure fresh air is good.

You can MIST right on the layer. until soil is moist.

Well fellas I was duped the vendor classified it as the blue meanie which to my understanding was a pan species but in reality it was there spacial cubensis special spore product. So this thread is now almost pointless but I very much appreciate all the input this far thanks.
