I can't find anything on growing truffles in jar Tek anywear? Virto fruiting truffles?

You'll need a sclerotia producing species. That excludes any variety of cubensis such as GT.

It's really easy though. Grow out some mycelium on agar and transfer to grain jars once you have a clean culture, then wait until your truffles are big and strong. I usually run mine for four to six months before harvesting.

What do we call those rubbery balls of myc that sometimes form in grain jars of Cubensis. They dry out very much like sclerotia, and they are potent?
I never got round to cloning one of these, still have a jar of them somewhere, to see if they would be worthwhile.
I did wonder if it would be possible to 'breed' from it a mat forming variety. A mat that formed on the top of the substrate that could just be, sort of 'rolled off' as it were.
No harm in trying different stuff, though, eh.

I've never seen cubes produce anything that resembles the sclerotia I've grown from tampenensis. Do you have any pictures?

This thread was moved from The Pub.
Reason: Better fit here. You won’t get proper sclerotia from a cube variety. Species in section mexicana will be the best producers most specifically Ps tampanensis and Ps mexicana. Pseudo sclerotia are found in some pans occasionally but they generally suck.
