For a long time I'd been using tyvek sleeves when working by the flow hood.
I think it's time to say goodbye.
Bare arms or long sleeves, which is better / more clean?

My guess would be that more material would create more turbulence

I'm going back to reverse osmosis and pH to 5.5 water for all my mycology work. Stuff hasn't been looking to pretty here at the sand ranch.

Has anybody heard of antioquensis?
Looks a lot like tamp but it doesn’t make stones.

Somewhat...Oh yea another thing I'm starting doing again is simmering my grains.
The various long soaks and things have been leaving me with too wet grains in my spawn bags after pc-ing but simultaneously dry inside.

Yeah simmering also helps a lot with burst grain compared to boiling ime

When you simmer your grains, do you leave the grains in the pot as the water is brought to a simmer or do you wait until a simmer and dump the grains in?

Ah alright. I used to do that but I just couldn't eyeball the simmer well enough and would start my timer a tad late so I was ending up with a messy WBS sometimes, especially with the gypsum I use. I started soaking for 8 hours in coffee and gypsum, strain the grains from the soak water into a separate pot, and bring the water to a simmer. Then I'd just add the WBS back in for exactly 6 minutes and I seem to have found my sweet spot. I also have a window screen for drying that helps a lot. I'm always intrigued by other's grain prep.

Get the hottest water your tap can produce, put it on the stove. Max power. Once it starts roaring cut it to low and start a timer. Experiment with times and find the perfect one. For me it's like 30-40 minutes. Write the time down and you shall never struggle again. You might wanna write down the amount of water and grain you put in. Perfecting processes like this can save you a lot of time and brain power.

You can't really wait till a simmer and dump room temperature grains in or you've no longer got a simmer, you'd just have to wait for it again.

If I dried a batch about a week ago, i thought they were cracker dry, but apparently not 100%... I checked on them today and they're a little bendy, not snappy.. can I toss them back in the dehydrator for a little bit?.. they don't smell sweet or funky..
I put them in a jar with desiccant packs directly after dehydrating, but apparently I didn't have them dry enough.

Cool, thanks.. I thought I could get away with shortening my drying time a little because the flush wasn't that big... lesson learned..

lil tub success
Some BM from spore/popcorn
Not a lot but a start
Need experts knowledge, most guide say harvest right after veil breaks.
stupid question bell o ringin' again.
will they grow anymore after? do they loose or gain potency?
Have not had enough flushes, seems like after you pick the biggest one the rest just kinda stop, is it me, am I just not patient enough?

Oh gawd this was just discussed to death in the Cult Pic of the Day thread starting here: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27763898#27763898
And opinions are every which way about that, plus it depends somewhat on "do they drop spores" it seems.
It depends on the look you want, the variety you're running, how uniform is the flush, and what you're doing with them eventually I suppose (AKA bag appeal), but I pick just at maturity if I get to them in time.

so I guess that is the underlying question "when is a mushie mature" I will read the sited thread, I would like them to be bigger but if they do not make more psliocybin it would be pointless more volume with less potency would just mean more chewing.....
